• Another man has tested positive Bathurst jail, as a new arrival the 29-year-old man was routinely swabbed. He is not believed to be linked to the earlier case and has been in a single cell since arriving on Wednesday. Contact tracing is underway.
• Newcastle COVID outbreak allegedly caused by a Sydney woman who lied to police twice and twice defied orders to return to Sydney, before spreading the virus in Newcastle over several days. More.

The NSW Government has announced a snap state-wide lockdown which will last for at least the next seven days.NSW Health confirmed any existing coronavirus restrictions in regional areas of NSW will now be replaced with the new public health orders matched for the entire state."This means the whole of New South Wales will be under stay at home restrictions from 5pm today," NSW Health said.

NSW Lockdown extended

Greater Sydney's lockdown will be in place until the end of September, at least. 

The premier says Shellharbour and the Central Coast will be removed from the Greater Sydney definition to become rural areas. 

The lockdown in rural and regional NSW is due to end on August 28 but that could be extended depending on case numbers.A decision on that will come next week, the premier said.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The cargo ship Ken Hou has docked at Fremantle Port carrying several crew members possibly infected with COVID. The ship was due to berth in Albany on Saturday, before 16 of its 22 crew reported respiratory problems and elevated temperatures.

WA Health said they would be tested on the dock, similar to the crew of other ships with suspected cases of the virus. Once the test results come back WA Health will decide which crew members go into hotel quarantine and which stay on the ship.
