Scientists have produced evidence that the pandemic virus is 'uniquely adapted to infect humans', raising fresh questions over whether its origins were natural or could have occurred in a laboratory.

It bugs me that in NSW we have to wait until 11am each day to get an update of the day before.

Todays update: 50 cases of community transmission reported to 8pm last night.
37 were infectious for a period in the community, 26 of those were in the community throughout the whole of their infectious period.
47 in hospital. 19 under the age of 55, 8 under 35.
In ICU...1 teenager, 1 in 20's, 2 in 30's, 2 in 40's, 5 in 50's, several in 60's and 70's (forget the number) and 1 in 80's.

17 people in intensive care, 7 being ventilated.   No-one in hospital who has been fully vaccinated (except for the people from the nursing home who are not sick and we're only taken to hospital as a precaution). However, there are people hospitalised who have only received 1 dose of AstraZenica or Pfizer.

More detail:

Seventy-nine per cent of the people in hospital are unvaccinated. The five people who are fully vaccinated are the residents of SummitCare who are in hospital as a precaution.

Four people in hospital have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and one has received their first dose of Pfizer.

Just heard on the news that the border between NSW and  Victoria will shut down at midnight tonight

I am so angry about this.

The NRL is shifting 12 clubs into south-east Queensland for one month, following an emergency meeting of the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC). See here.

Given the appalling record of NRL players breaching virus restrictions on numerous occasions, they should be the very last people let into the area. So irresponsible of the NSW and QLD governments and the egotistical NRL/ARLC on this issue. Hate the football with a passion now.

Looks like the 15 year old is thankfully out of intensive care now. Latest figures for ICU are 1 in 20's, 1 in 30's, 1 in 40's, 5 in 50's, 6 in 60's, 3 in 70's and 1 in 80's. Some of these people were semi vaccinated.

The 90 year old woman who died had symptoms for less than 24 hours.

Good news about the 15 year old Ny19, very sad about the death, it happened so quickly too.

Members of another household at the apartment block have also tested positive.

So angry about this ... still more football clubs being sent to SE Queensland where I live, after NSW moved its NRL teams up here ... now Victoria's AFL clubs are arriving. Recipe for disaster IMO.

The AFL season is up in the air once again, with Victoria entering a lockdown. The AFL had gathered all 16 teams in Victoria after outbreaks in NSW and elsewhere. Several teams are heading north to Queensland. Teams include Richmond Tigers, Sydney Swans, GWS Giants, Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne and Essendon.

Does anyone from Qld know the dates that the Brisbane airport worker worked while infectious? Also, what date the infected boy arrived at Brisbane airport from Sydney? I have been trying to find out but can't find info on it.

The airport worker who had tested positive had been working at the airport for three days while infectious. The woman from Tarragindi had been vaccinated with Pfizer and became unwell last Tuesday evening. She was deemed infectious from Sunday afternoon (11 July) while she was at work at Brisbane International Airport from 6pm through to 11:30pm, she also worked on Monday and Tuesday. She visited a local Woolworths on Monday and a Chemist Warehouse on Wednesday before being tested.

Re the arrival of the Brisbane boy, as above in my update for today ... 12-year-old who had completed hotel quarantine in Sydney and flew into Brisbane on QF544 on July 9.

Thanks so much RnR. My daughter flew from Darwin to Brisbane last Sunday and has come to live with us for awhile so good to see the woman worked at the international terminal. The boy arrived before my daughter so I can relax about both cases.

RnR you are a wealth of information!  Thanks for your help.

I have not been into the site for some time it was a lot of reading for me as I am at the moment, but I am using the site this morning to try to learn to read again.

I wonder if the rest of the country does what WA has been doing since day one which is about 16 months ago now, that is you have to register at each property you enter and sign your name, date of arrival and time you entered the shop or where every it happens to be.

I have not seen it mentioned.

People that don't have 'smart' phones have to write their details down long hand.

As far as I know Celia all states have check-in codes and facilities for both those with smart phones and those without.
