Violence on the football field
August 5th saw an AFL player receive a broken jaw and teeth in an onfield incident.
These conflicts occasionally happen and there are no winners.
Question: Has the efficacy of mouth-guards been tested adequately. Obviously in the current incident, the technology is not adequate. Do our footballers need to wear mouth-guards that we normally expect a boxer to wear?

Rob, I imagine the players already wear good fitting mouth guards. I listen to the commentary on the games and am often surprised to learn that all these incidents are "accidental."
As the players develope their game skill level so too does their skill at causing "accidents" develope.
Or am I mistaken and the game is now played by more accident prone players?
