Trusted ointment recalled

Users of a popular ointment are being told to check their products due to contamination.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has issued an urgent recall of Lucas Papaw Remedies – a topical ointment used to help treat minor skin wounds, skin dryness and chafing.

The TGA says the microorganisms identified in the affected batches include a range of moulds and bacteria that pose “minimal risk to the general population”.

“There is a remote risk that individuals who are immunocompromised could become ill if they are exposed to these organisms, the TGA says”

The affected products come in 15-gram, 75-gram and 200-gram sizes, with expiry dates from April-May 2025. The recall affects only those named batches and not other Lucas’ Papaw Remedies products.

The TGA says anyone who has an affected item should immediately stop using it , return the product to the place of purchase for a refund or contact Lucas’ Papaw Remedies Customer Service on 1800 861 852.
