Travel tips please!!!

I am lucky enough to be travelling to England and Europe either next year or early 2010. It will be my first international trip and I am so excited. I am a bit concerned about the long flight though, as the longest previous flight has been 2 hours to Brisbane. (Jetsetter me!!)
I will be flying to London with friends where we have a house swap, then plan to take a European escorted tour by myself (which will be a first too).
I will be overseas for 2 or 3 months in all.
There are lots of stories around about swollen ankles, clots etc.
So any senior travellers out there could you please give me some advice about your experiences and also any websites which would help me.
I know it is early days yet, but I would love to gather information to be well prepared.
Cheers,
Moggy.

Hi Moggy,

hope you have a great trip. Commonsense is usually the best bet. Wear comfortable, loose fitting, clothing and shoes. Go easy on the alcohol, drink plenty of water. If you are like me and can't sleep try to keep moving. Walk around the plane at regular intervals, stretch etc. Take a book to occupy your mind. You will probably have a 2 hour stopover in Singapore, or somewhere similar. Use this to walk around the terminal, Singapore is huge, and check the shops for bargains to buy on the return stopover. Don't forget, You Will Eventually Reach Your Destination!!!!!
