I highly recommend this trip as somewhere interesting to go. We went last Sep / Oct and had a ball. We went with a small group who just jelled. Don't think I would like to do the trip solo. However we plan to do self drive of Ireland, England and Scotland next April. Any tips? .

I know I'm a bit late but I've been away a considerable amount this year and have missed quite a few messages.

I have hired a car and driven England Scotland Wales and Ireland on a few occasions.

My general rule is don't try to do too much. Plan your trip in general in advance then fine tune on a day by day basis. Depending on the season and how many tourists are still around you can judge by what time of the day you should be looking for acomodation.

Or, you can pay to book ahead to give you certainty.
