total lunar eclipse

Tomorrow morning (Thu) there will be a total lunar eclipse.
Best viewed in WA.
It will last longer (about 40mins) than any for over 10 years
The Moon passes through the shadow of the Earth as it's on the opposite side of the Sun.
What you will see (if you are up early) is a very red moon.

Well we have a clear sky so all depends if I get up early enough.
Sposed to start about 4:30am and the full eclipse should begin about 40 mins later (I think)

Phyl states that you never sleep Fwed ,so I am sure you will see this , as it will probably be minus 2 at that time in Tassie I think it may be just a little too cold to stand outside and look unfortunately.BBbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrr Wobbly :ahhh:

lol Wobbly. True Fwed. sleeps little and when he does he has one

eye open.

It is SO cold here in the best State at the moment

we have all our food outside as it is colder than in the fridge (saves on

electricity) ;-)

...

As Peter is SO into all that goes on with the stars and moon we will

be watching I am sure.

..

4.30 in which State Fwed???? Beautiful Victoria or W.A.

Peter just yelled out around 4.30 Vic. time.

..

Always something exciting happening hey.

..

No doubt I will sleep through this one too. I seem to wake in the early hours every day except the day I want to wake up early. Wonder if another cup of tea now will ensure I wake then?

Darn it! The fog was and and still is SO heavy

nothing can be seen through it .

Oh well that's life.

Might need a bit of a kip later today though as

once Peter was up and looking skywards we could

not get back to sleep.

Never mind no good dwelling on "what could have been"

It is what it is - and a wonderful Thursday has dawned

Hope today is very special for everyone.

I was up at 4am and watched it.

It started about 4:30 and by 5:30 the moon was just a pale reddish colour.

It got daylight before I could see the moon come back normal.

I think it caused my electricity to go out as at 5:15 I had no power till after 8am, so total darkness.

I didn't need the extra cup of tea  but by the time I forced myself out at 5.05 all I saw was a silvery bit at the eclipsed bottom peeping out from a foggy mist.

Looked good on TV though.

Not to worry, the Winter Solstice is at 03:24 next Wed, 22 June and it is traditional to have a knees-up for that. Maybe a good Irish with coffee as a minimum.

For those who enjoy a longer wait between drinks, the next Blue Moon is on 31 Aug 2012.

Tasmanians always celebrate the winter solstice and not just with Irish coffee, hehehe Wobbly %-P
