To buy or not to buy, that is the Question

I'm on the horns of a dilemma and need some advice or feedback from the good folk on this site.

Both retired and in our late sixties, my wife and I own a two-bedroom permanent on-site caravan in Northern Tasmania. Our home is comfortable but I think we would be better off selling our caravan and buying a small house. My wife thinks we are better off staying put and keeping our money in the bank rather than putting it all into a house. What do you think? Who is right, me or the wife and why?

I look forward to any comments which will help us make a decision. Many thanks.

My advice is not by experience but the way I see it. Consider the pros and cons, make a list, look at a few houses, can you imagine doing all the work to look after it, what about the cost of repairs and rates, many things to consider. What about social life, do you meet or know more people in the park? Is it convenient to everything you need? Asking many questions and looking at options is the only way to make the right decision. Try renting a house for awhile and see if you enjoy it too. Or would you prefer to spend the money travelling? Good luck whatever you decide.

There can be a lot to consider here bohanka, all fine living in a van if you are both well and able -- and have your own shower and toilet, nothing worse than having to live without such if not in good health -- also is the van park looking like staying around --- so many have sold up and had to kick out the vans and so the people in them --

Yes, you have to consider --when buying a home -- the cost of rates /Stamp duty/ insurance/small or large garden/upkeep -- no worries about company IF that is what you need -- you can always join a club or whatever.

Just give it lots of thought -- and I wish you well whatever you choose to do.

Agree Plan B

For me I definitely prefer my house on my own turf.

I’m recommending today at least five times, and I think of her every time I’m so bored that I don’t know what movie to watch.
The film "The Queen Wearing Prada" is based on Lauren Weisberger's novel of the same name, directed by David Frankel, Meryl Streep, Anne Heather Wei and Emily Blunt starred together. The film was released in the United States on June 30, 2006.
Anne Hathaway is a movie actress that the editor likes very much. She has been nominated for many awards and Oscars.
