I made this last night and added some frozen peas and you are right it is terrific and so easy

yet tasty.

Don't want to pour cold water over your salmon pie Phyl, but Omega3 oils are not to be heated as they deteriorate. Even with linseeds which are tops for Omega 3, you are meant to grind them and keep in the freezer. Therefore...should not even buy them if they have already been ground. Just something I picked up around the place...

Mara,

As all canned fish are heat treated in the canning process are you saying that there is no omega 3 in any canned fish. Could you let us know where your information came from, as if your information is fact we could have a good case of false advertising against the manufacturers of these products as most claim their products are rich in omega 3.

Glad you asked Ken. here's the link

Look for subheading - Linseed and Sulfur-rich Food

I grind my linseeds put them in the freezer and they do not go into lumps at all.

Keep in mind that the writer, Walter Last is a qualified Research Chemist,

Biochemist, and Toxicologist.

I suggest if anyone has any health issue to investigate, Google Walter Last and topic

you want to research.

Couldn't find anything regarding fish and omega 3 on the site, but he does suggest drinking your own urine every morning as a cure for constipation. Have you tested that one yet?????

no no no not urine test and hope never have to. Apparently it also breaks down tumors so that it can be eliminated from the body quicker.

Omega 3 - look under the sub-heading: Linseed and Sulfur-rich Food

Linseeds are the richest source and the cheapest and also most potent as you grind the seeds yourself.

I will keep it in mind if I ever buy linseed, but I may be seeing a dietitian at the hospital next week and if I do I'll ask her about the canned fish as I can't find anything on the internet to say that cooking canned fish eliminates the omega3 benefits.

Peter and I have been having a dessertspoon or more of Flaxseed/Linseed oil every morn. for years

cheap and it works well for us. Just an orange squeezed each and then mix it in very well to emulsify.

...........................................

Linseed oil, also known as flax seed oil is a clear to yellowish oil obtained from the dried ripe seeds of the flax plant . The oil is obtained by cold pressing.

We buy a 250ml bottle of Flax Seed oil from Safeway for just under $5 and it is Virgin and Cold Pressed. We find this a great buy.

We find grinding the linseeds a bit time consuming for such a bit of oil whereas the bottle of it

has so much Omega 3 by the spoonful and also cheap at Safeway. We would be devastated if Safeway/Woolworths did not keep getting it in, as it is so much cheaper than the healthfood shops and so much better than capsules for us.

We also love our canned red salmon and use it many times a month I love it with baby spinach/silverbeat but we have it with heaps of things. Cheapish and we feel good for us.

Everyone can do whatever they want which makes life interesting.

All the best

Phyl.

Phyl, oils do go ransid, off, like milk or any other organic, live foods. From 1-10 it will deteriorate. We may think it's ok but how do we know that instead of getting 100% of the value we only get 50%. Any good oil will go off unless it is dead like canola. Buy it from the health food shop which has it refregirated It's your money get the full value for it.

Like I said Mara. We do what we want and of course good for you doing the same.

We are extremely happy with our Flax seed oil. and no wish to change.

Your poor dietician won't have a clue unless s/he is mature enough to have studied and be independant to voice her views. A dietician will tell you Hungry Jacks is just as good as a home cooked meal; white bread as good as wholemeal.

You do say some foolish things at times Mara.
