Tiger Woods arrested for suspected drink driving

Former world No.1 golfer Tiger Woods has been arrested in Florida and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to an online Palm Beach County Police report.

Woods, a 14-time major winner, was taken into custody at about 3am Monday morning local time near his Jupiter Island home, booked at 7:18am and released hours later.

Woods, who is still recovering from back surgery in April, said last week that he felt better than he had in years and had no plans to retire.

“Presently, I’m not looking ahead,” Woods wrote on his website.

“I can’t twist for another two and a half to three months. Right now, my sole focus is rehab and doing what the doctors tell me. I am concentrating on short-term goals.”

Woods already lost a swathe of his major sponsors when allegations about affairs started to come to the surface in 2009 after an early morning car accident outside his home.

Woods lost form in recent years due to injuries and the mastering of a new swing, while his ranking has plummeted to 876 after his long spell on the sidelines.

This is not a happy man

I feel terribly sorry for Tiger Woods, the classic story of a man at the top of his world making a mistake and never recovering from the outfall.

I wish Tiger well and hope for his sake that he gets over the last 10 years and moves on to better times again.

When was being a serial adulterer just "making a mistake"?

He is an intelligent man, he is in the public eye always, so he knew the consequences of his actions.

I was one who admired his talent once upon a time.

Wish him well too.

This is a classical example of "cut down the tall poppy" syndrome.

A habit that is rife in Australia unfortunately, and I didn't realise it was as much so elsewhere.

I guess it proves that certain people are pretty much the same all over.

P.S from me. I just don't think it is such ground braking news, to be splattered world wide for goodness sake. Only the famous make mistakes?

i know. lets assume some journo struggling to keep his job has made up some story. what a grub.

so how low does that make those who have already condemed him.

if he did it is journalistic bile going to help him, or make the followers of these vultures better people?

This is news because...????

IMO he is scum -- if he wanted to play around then do NOT do it behind your partners back -- finish the relationship and get on with your choice of life -- I have NO time for cheating at all!

Now we have a conundrum...there's Tiger the golfer..Tiger the man..and Tiger the adulterer...

I love the  "golfer" and the "man"...I do not like the adulterer...but I am not going to cut him down because he's human..

Everyone makes mistakes and I wish him all the best...I understand it was not alcohol but prescription medicine that caused this latest episode...

He hasnt been the same since he was bashed with a niblik?

Look, you wouldnt drink and drive on the fairway, so why do it on the road.
