The pendulum swings

Who would ever have guessed?   The hypocrisy is astounding.

"Bill Shorten left a Comcar driver waiting in a carpark all day while he attended the most exclusive party at the Melbourne Cup last year, racking up a $1013 bill, adding to his prolific use of the government car service.

The Labor leader, who last month ridiculed government ministers for driving in their “white cars”, outspent all of them in his own taxpayer-funded white car, according to the latest parliamentary expenses update.

Mr Shorten had an AFP security detail on the day he attended the Melbourne Cup and his chauffeur-driven commonwealth vehicle was unable to leave while he and wife Chloe partied in the Birdcage, a string of invite-only venues sponsored by major brands and corporations.

In five months, he spent almost $40,000 on Comcar travel. Malcolm Turnbull spent just over $21,000 in the same period."

""Mr Shorten outspent every government minister — with the highest government charge for Health Minister Greg Hunt, at almost $30,000. Mr Shorten outspent half of the ministers by four times.""

Bill is very progressive. He has progressed from being a faceless man to a man of many faces.

Hahahaha, fooled you all didn't I and all the time you thought I was a "socialist"

Fabian

I'm not surprised quite frankly that Bill Shorten's limo bill is the highest of all MPs. He is probably the worst driver, I mean who smashes into a parked car because of a spilt coffee? Who texts while driving these days? Anyone over twenty?

If these mongrels do such as this they should be able to be thrown out for thieving,  every one of them!    I think we would find there were NONE left -- that would be good we need a totally new lot

I think you could be right PlanB, there'd be none left.  Unfortunately it's like a friend says, "Doesn't matter who you vote for you always end up with a politician."

A new mob would be good, but I'm afraid whoever we chose would 'turn into a politician' soon enough.

We've all said it before, time to change the system, so these things don't slip under the radar, but good luck with that when the people making the rules are the people rorting them.

Bill Shorten goes on about introducing a Federal ICAC, sounds good, but who gets to choose the 'independant judges' running that if he gets in - yeah, thought so.

Yes Leonie so right -- and I wish they would do away with preferential voting too -- because so many do not understand it and it ends up that only the BIG 2 ever get in -- maybe with limited numbers IF people vote for independents  -- THANK GOODNESS God help us if they never had anyone to keep them in line a little.

Oh dear???

I dont understand why Labor has again done a 360 on pokie reform??

Andrew Wilkie had an iron clad written agreement with the Labor Prime Minister to introduce Pokie reform laws to take effect in 2014 in return for his support to get them into government.

Andrew Wilkie kept his word. Julia Gillard became PM.

You wouldnt believe what happened next!

Labor pulled out of the deal when they got Peter Slipper to cross the floor and didnt need Wilkie's vote anymore.

But here's the dilema. Now Labor want us to believe they are going to introduce Pokie reform because it is emotionally disturbing for them to see a pokie player lose half his wages.

How can we believe them anymore?

Labor... if you dont like our policies we have others and we'll eventually find one you like.

I reckon Andrew Wilkie is one that CAN be trusted -- he even gave up his career in the forces when Howard followed the USA into Iraq because he said it was so darn wrong

No one should be allowed to be a Member of Parlaiment unless they are over 60 and never been bankrupt

this way they have had a proper career , hopefully be financiall  secure and less likely motivated by self interest , influenced by lobby groups or feathering their nests by making deals that will land them cushy jobs when they are kicked out for incompetence by the voter

Also they will have less years in retirement on the rip o off pension schemes they’re in

The workers who keep voting Labor apparently don't realise their wages are paying for Bill  shorten to swan around with the capitalists.  Lol

Labor is a fraud

they preach socialism to the masses to win cheap votes but knowing full well that it’s the business sector ends up paying by for all their stupid ideas

its the great labor balancing aka flip flop act

As people get older they realise things arent quite what they seem. Santa Clause is not real and labor ministers are a bunch of ex union bosses with credit cards we pay off. This is why it is imperative for Labor to keep lowering the voting age. Not happy with lowering it from 21 to 18 now Bill Shorten is talking of lowering the eligibility age to 16. Labor are continually campaigning in kindergartens for this reason. We must reject this.

both labor and the libs/nats have essentially the same policies.  they both promote neo-liberal capitalist policies.

i.e. enrich the rich, exploit our environment and screw the poor.

if we keep arguing about who is the best out of this lot, it keeps us divided, distracted and powerless.  they are both the same and their posturing in parliament is merely a side show.

anyone who threatens this duopoly is ridiculed and suppressed because they (the laberals) fear  the greens and independents so much.

Labor have different policies depends who they talk to. They are very closely alligned with the Greens at the moment because thats Labors best chance to get more votes.

What happened to the Greens? I guess people are realising they are just protesters like Xenophon. They once had 15% of the vote, now they're lucky to get above 10%. The Greens once had a tight grip on Tasmania until voters realised they were being lead into a cul de sac.

Totally agree

the fruitcake greens have no policies of value except to destroy the economy

Greens got one seat in the Tassie elections and Lambie none.

So there ya go.

Haha

The Greens have been burnt to ashes

Finally the Tasmanians have seen the light

Green party will go the way of the do-do

Hopefully one day , labor will go the same

It's happening now in the US and all across Europe

Bill is not a bad guy, he comes up with some good ideas, sometimes. Trouble is he forgets what he says from one day to the next. Sadly so does Malcolm.

At least Bill likes wind power!
