The new PM

Some members here pay scant regard to the Polls as they did with Rudd, who has since rather suddenly departed thanks to the 'assassination by the gang of 7' -- the real power behind the Labor facade.

However the dumping of Rudd may return to bite them on the proverbial when the late news tonight on channel 10 asked "Will you vote for Gillard"? Over 27000 people responded with 23% voting YES with a whopping 73% voting NO. So it seems the 'gang of 7's choice, or the way they disposed of the former leader, is not all that popular among the voters. I can assure you all I didn't follow the Labor creed of voting early and voting often LOL.

So the message here is ignore the polls at your peril -- right Kev?

I would dearly love to know the REAL reason Tanner is chucking it in, as the old "spending time with the family" is wearing a tad thin.

With Swannee now the Deputy.........yeh, right........and if the Julia shuffle doesn,t work.......more 'Rat Pack' chess.

I feel for Rudd and am sure ethat Tanner has got out because he has also had enough of the dirty politics--We the people voted in Rudd and We should have been the ones to keep him or chuck him--Gillard must have been lying when she said she was NOT going for the top job only last week. It is a very dirty business--I have heard so many say they will vote informal they feel so stongly about this--shame to waste a vote --but I can understand how they feel as I feel the same--I am over the lot of them.

yeah, right, which 'rat pack' shuffle do you mean!! all the libs shuffles

since the last election, how tight is the 'bishop' hanging on seeing is

how she has been so 'loyal' to each of three opposition leaders,

Backing them all the way to the 'axemen' you know who I mean,

the ones who are standing behind saying how loyal they are,

then the axe falls, Goodbye, Brendan, goodbye, Turnbull, Hail, abbott.

the saint. who lies.

seth.

Seth but was the party who swapped leaders not some back room operators with the Unions just wanting to keep a lousy party in power at any cost.

Lies? Labor wrote the book sunshine.

Labor has had their share of dud leaders Keating, Creane, Beasley and also Latham who crawled out of where ever he hides nowadays to pass comment, not that anyone was interested.

Only 4 questions remain.

Will she call an early election, tomorrow, for 28th August, as I tipped some

time back?

Will the blind supporters of the back stabber, vote her in, by a very tight

margin?

Is Kevin Rudd feeding Laurie Oakes?

Will Robertson be the first seat to fall, & Bennalong, the second?

Maybe a few more of us should have listened to Mark Latham. He described

Rudd's character & ability, very correctly, over 2 1/2 years before anybody else

in Australia woke up.

It is beginning to look like I may be wrong by 1 week. According to

reports, Gillard is presently at Yarralumla requesting a Federal

Election for 21st August. There are many Labor supporters out there

who believe that Labor has got Bennelong forever. Are there any

that are prepared to put their money where their mouth is. I am

looking for anybody who wants to bet against my opinion, that it

doesn't matter whether Labor or Liberal wins the election, Mckew

will lose Bennelong & lose any hope of a lifelong pension.

Mckew will lose Bennelong

Of course it is possible that she could lose but I think John Howard was a more formidable opponent than John Alexander.

Then it will be interesting to see how the Greens perform with Lindsay Peters who did not go too well in 2007.

I don't think John Alexander has had much experience in politics but his name is well known as a former tennis player and sports commentator.

Remember that McKew managed to win the seat against the sitting Prime Minister, who had held the seat for 33 years.

You would still have to think a political novice like John Alexander would struggle to perform better than Howard.

I guess we will find out on August 21st.

Luckily for us the campaign will not be a long drawn out affair.

Good comment fwed. However, I don't believe that Maxine won the Seat.

I believe that the voters of Bennalong threw Howard out & they will revert

back at the coming election. I agree that it will be very interesting to see

how Lindsay Peters does. He was the unfortunate sufferer from the

polorization of the Lib/ Lab vote in 2007 & suffered, I think, Greens worst

result, because of it. If he gets the extra 5.5% to bring him back to Green

average, his preferences could push Maxine over the line. It is hard to

judge an election on any one Seat, but I believe that whoever wins McEwen,

in Melbourne, following Fran Bailey's retirement, will win the election.

Yes McEwan will be interesting as I believe it is the most marginal seat in Australia with Fran Bailey winning by only 27 votes.

Rob Mitchell will again stand for the ALP after his narrow defeat in 2007.

But I think the result of the election will be decided in Queensland.

That is where the Libs have the opportunity to gain more seats than in other state except maybe NSW.
