The Meeting Place & Firefox

I have noticed lately that when I go to view a topic, all I get is the ad - no topic.
.
I use Firefox browser as it dosent have as many bugs as Internet explorer, usually displays the page as it is meant to be displayed (not in this case tho) and loads pages faster.
.
When I use Internet Explorer, I can see the topic, although it takes a long time to display the page.
Is anyone else having this problem with Firefox ?
Gerry

I don't think it is only Firefox - I've had quite a few problems with logging off - the part where I usually do it has just disappeared! Sometimes I get to the meeting place and I'm "live", right from the word go, don't have to log in, but can't log off.

Sheesh! I'ts disappeared again!

I think firefox has a selective memory, it hated my computer it slowed it down to a point of driving me mad. It seemed to open sites when it felt like it and generally do its own thing. I removed it and accept what IE does. My sanity restored.

I've fixed my problem too - I just go to home, and from there, I can log off.

I havent been able to get on here for days. I use Firefox and currently have to use Internet Explorer which is very slow - also cant get my fonts large enough to read comfortably with it.

This site has a lot of problems.

I too keep getting htis ad and email and subscribe on FF.

Slow - blimey if it went faster I would think it was broadband.

I have fastest Broadband available but this is like dial up years ago.

Fast on Firefox but cant get anywhere and I havent got the new Firefox 3 eithr as not compatible with some of my program add ons.

Ive just left a bookshop and theres a computer book there called firefox for dummies, il remain a dummy, Im not paying $US20 to be firefox smart.

I havent been able to get on here for days. I use Firefox and currently have to use Internet Explorer which is very slow - also cant get my fonts large enough to read comfortably with it.

That is same as what I get (I have Firefox 3) and I dislike Internet explorer intensely.

You can get larger fonts tho by clicking on "View" (up top) and selecting "text size"

I sugget Get a Apple Mac lol

I have discovered why threads are not viewable with firefox.

In the html code, after the last menu item "Travel" is the following:

<!-- close header-container -->

<!--

That last bit " <!-- " indicates the rest is a comment and not to be displayed.

It does display using IE but not Firefox.

If it was removed, the page would display properly in all browsers.

.

The comment tag is used to insert a comment in the HTML source code. A comment will be ignored by the browser. You can use comments to explain your code, which can help you when you edit the source code at a later date.

.

<!-- This is a comment -->

.

Note that you need an exclamation point after the opening bracket, but not before the closing bracket.

.

Also the html code has many errors, mostly because of using the incorrect doctype "Strict" when it should be "transitional" to comply with "www.w3.org" standards.

.

Hope this helps,

Gerry

Many people members here still cannot get back in.

Admins. may know why? but no replies from them.

Phyl.

I am still having to use IE which is nuisance as default if Firefox - havent got FF3 yet as some of my programs are not compatible yet with it.

.

Hope someone will see Gerry's advice and fix it as IE is slow and it gets stuck or the site does and have to click on Go again to get it to load.

.

Webmaster must be on holidays :)

I should have added that viewing the meeting place is ok, it is just that when you want to view any thread using firefox that the " <!-- " hides the topic.

This happens on every topic.

I have tested this on my own computer and when the " <!-- " is removed the topic is visible.

So simple really.

Hi All,

Currently am trying to work on the problem, each of our pages use the same menus so will have to make sure the website stays up.

BigVal i am actually sorry to say you were correct on the holiday statement, havn't had one for over two years now but finally got away overseas, typical that something big happens!
