The end of annoying scam text messages with this one telco

From today, new technology will be introduced to the Telstra communications network that will automatically block spam text messages.

Reports of malicious text messages have increased from 50 in 2020 to over 11,000 in 2021 on Android devices.

“Customers might be concerned we’re going to block legitimate SMSs, but we obviously put in place a lot of protocols and procedures to make sure we don’t do that,” Telstra CEO and managing director Andy Penn told news.com.au.

I personally receive around 2-3 scam text messages per week and i'm hoping this new update will reduce this number to zero. Now, if they can work on all the scam phone calls we have been receiving i'd be laughing!

Would you consider moving to Telstra if this technology update is proven successful in blocking spam and scam text messages?

If only they could get rid of the Political,Charity and Survey Scams

but unfortunately Telstra or any other provider can legally do that.

Will it work with scam phone calls on the Telstra network too which are an equal time wasting menace? Fortunately on a mobile it's possible to see the country code for most incoming traffic. Would I move to Telstra? At the moment we are seriously thinking of moving away from them due to deteriorating data signal strength where we live and the need to use wi-fi after paying for phone data which is only spasmodically available.
