Kate Middleton, 40, opted for a distinctive blue coatdress for the occasion, which she paired with a matching fascinator and dazzling diamond earrings (left). Meanwhile the Countess of Wessex was pretty in a pink Valentino gown as she arrived at St George's Chapel earlier today (right, inset).

Wow is that all it cost!

Love that blue outfit. Really suits her.

I never thought I would see this!

HM looks so frail in that photo to me.

Still has the handbag though LOL.

She is not the only one these days becoming frail, I feel the difference myself the last three months in my strengths.

Do you exercise Celia?  Even gardening is very good for you.

I thought you were much improved.

The 70's age group is not normally seen as frail.

Hi Axel.

I am comparing myself to what I used to be, I will never get back to that again.

I can compare myself to people I know that are a decade younger than me and they are more frail than I am even now.

These days I still keep my exercise bike, OK I don't use it anywhere near what I used to, the poor thing is nearly worn out, but I sit on it and do only 60 seconds to 120 seconds, I know that doesn't sound very much but that is my limit these days.  It makes my legs muscles strong.

When I was in Hollywood hospital the Occupational Therapist had me go for a walk and he noticed my legs were strong, that is the strongest part of me!  LOL  My back I have herniated three discs in over the years so I want my legs to keep up the work!

But I am not on the correct subject matter!

Which makes me think that is there a Thread on this site that talks about the strength and the manner of which we as seniors care for our bodies?

Royals turn out in force for Royal Ascot as Queen misses out | Daily Mail Online

Instead, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were in attendance alongside Sophie Wessex, Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall.

The Queen, who has owned 22 winners of races at Royal Ascot, was among racegoers attending last year after it was selected to take part in the Government's events research programme on behalf of the sport of racing.

She did not attend the first day of last year's races but was later present at day five with her racing manager John Warren and inspected her four horses in the Parade Ring after they crossed the finish line.

The Queen is a passionate horse breeder and has a number of runners scheduled to be entered at Royal Ascot this week. But while the monarch will not be in the royal box today, racegoers are likely to see Charles, Camilla and Mr Phillips amongst other royals in there.

'I will never forget that I survived': Kate and William hear heart-breaking accounts from Grenfell survivors as they make surprise appearance at memorial service and lay a wreath to mark five years since 72 residents died in blaze

Eight-year-old Ayeesha reads her poem 'Never Forget'

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stood with survivors of the fire along and the bereaved at a memorial service also attended by MPs including Theresa May, who was prime minister at the time. The royal couple have long supported survivors and the families who died in the fire on June 14, 2017, which was accelerated by deadly combustible cladding and where many of those who died had been told to stay in their flats. 72 people died in the tragedy - but more are feared to have perished but were never identified. And today with tears streaming down the faces of mourners, dressed in green and clutching photographs of their loved ones, the fifth anniversary was marked. There are a number of other events planned for today, including outside the shell of Grenfell. Today's congregation stood as the Westminster Abbey special service choir sang Psalm 102:1: 'Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my crying come unto thee.' The names of the 72 men, women and children who lost their lives in the worst fire in a generation were also read out. After each group of names was read out, the congregation said in unison 'Forever in our hearts' - the phrase emblazoned across the top of the covered-up tower in north Kensington.

...Meanwhile Carole raids Kate's wardrobe. Notice the belt does not fit her matronly figure, so she swaps for a tie belt, probably also let out a few darts!

Mrs Middleton is a wealthy woman so why does she wear a cheap copy of her daughters dress I wonder?    One pet hate I have is that so many dresses these days are short waisted like this one is.   Very hard to find a good fitting dress, but when they have money to spend I would have thought she could have done much better for herself.

It's not a copy...it's the original dress that Kate wore. Here is Carole again having another raid on Kate's wardrobe! Seems she loves saving money on clothes!

Carole and Kate also wore the same cobalt blue dress two years apart.

I do feel for mature women that have lost their shape and want to keep up with their young slim daughters!   They husbands must  feel awful at times watching his daughter and then the wife that doesn't want to act her age!

Perhaps we need a Thread on Fashion not this one?

Some of the captions in the Daily Mail make me wonder if the writer has passed their Eleven Plus at school in the UK!

Some of their writing leaves a lot to be desired.

Most of the Daily Mail writing makes me wonder the same LOL.

Also the spell check on this site leaves a lot to be desired too RnR it is American Spelling not even Australian spelling never mind British Queens English Spelling!

I know I have a lot of errors thanks to the stroke but I do try.

I heard on the news that apparently we will get another public holiday when the Q Elizabeth falls off the perch as well as one for Charles.

Guess that makes you popular with the public of the Commonwealth.

LOL  thats a new one on me Suze!

I feel sorry for William, but I won't be around to see it I doubt.

I was reading that William wants to bring his children up in a smaller home so there is no servants to wait on them and the children will have to fend for themselves like mummy Kate did.

It reminds me of one of the Romanov,s  Alexander II who wanted to also bring his family up in a smaller home and get them to do their own thing without servants, sadly he was assassinated  and his son Nicholas suddenly became ruler with no experience.

His mother Marie was the sister of British Queen Alexandra who was like her sister a Danish Princess.

She became the daughter in law of Queen Victoria.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra's celebrated her 18th birthday in style on Friday. She reached her milestone in January but postponed any formal celebrations due to the pandemic. Denmark required all non-residents to present a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival at the border from December to January 17 this year, when Omicron was peaking.

1837 – Queen Victoria succeeds to the British throne.

Victoria, Alexandrina Victoria (1819–1901) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death. From 1 May 1876, she adopted the additional title of Empress of India.

Victoria later described her childhood as "rather melancholy". Her mother was extremely protective, and Victoria was raised largely isolated from other children under the so-called "Kensington System", an elaborate set of rules and protocols devised by the Duchess and her ambitious and domineering comptroller, Sir John Conroy. Victoria shared a bedroom with her mother every night, studied with private tutors to a regular timetable, and spent her play-hours with her dolls and her King Charles Spaniel, Dash.

Victoria inherited the throne on 20 June 1837 at the age of 18, after her father's three elder brothers had all died, leaving no surviving legitimate children.

The United Kingdom was already an established constitutional monarchy, in which the sovereign held relatively little direct political power. Privately, Victoria attempted to influence government policy and ministerial appointments; publicly, she became a national icon who was identified with strict standards of personal morality.

Coronation of Queen Victoria 28 June 1838 by Sir George Hayter.

The coronation of Queen Victoria took place just over a year after she inherited the throne.

Victoria married her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in 1840. Their nine children married into royal and noble families across the continent, tying them together and earning her the sobriquet "the grandmother of Europe". After Albert's death in 1861, Victoria plunged into deep mourning and avoided public appearances.

Victoria’s reign of 63 years and seven months is known as the Victorian era and was longer than that of any of her predecessors. It was a period of industrial, cultural, political, scientific, and military change within the United Kingdom, and was marked by a great expansion of the British Empire. Her Golden and Diamond Jubilees were times of great public celebration.
