Sweet Corn

Happy to say that I am never too old to learn! Went to the local Farmers Market with my grandson, piles of beautiful fresh vegetables including Sweet Corn. Happened to say I love sweet corn but hate preparing and cooking it. Sol (14) said its so easy just Pull out the brown whiskers at the end and put into the microwave for 2 minutes each cob leaving  the green leaves on. Cook, Then just peel off the green leaves and the stringy bits come off too. Maybe everyone else knew this way but me and the other grandmother with me if you didn't give it try.

Handy tip Vivity, thanks :)

Thanks Viv, will certainly give it a go.  I suppose the same thing would apply if you put them on the bbq - will give it a try.

Sounds good to me - thank you Viv. Bit of butter, salt and black pepper yummy and SO quick

Sob sob I have gone off my beloved tea but it will return :)

Tried ginger tea instead? Apparently it helps with the nausea too.

How do you prepare the ginger tea ? Which part of the plant do you use for it ?

When fresh just picked from the gaarden I like my corn raw but after a couple of days I like it microwaved too.

My friend having Chemo used to grate the root, not much, and poured hot water on to it.

You got my curiosity going Viv

Will have  to give it a try.

Viv :)

Took me almost a year to make the ginger tea and to my surprise it was quit palatable.

Will definitely be making it again

It is hard to buy Corn with all the leaves on ,I always do my corn like that ,my Bus driver told me about doing lik that

i wonder if it works if you boil the corn cob with the leaves still on?  will give it a try.

i also like corn raw, scraping off the individual pieces, and putting them in a salad.  fresh and crunchy.  yummy.

Soak the whole corn head in water for an hour.......remove it and put on the BBQ whole with leaves too on slow heat for 30 mins-40mins. The outer leaves will go burnt colour and the inside flavour is yummy.........peel and squeeze on lemon juice and butter.

Just saying hello due to many posts promoting fake licenes etc.

If the corn is fresh from your garden it is very nice just to munch on as is off the cob.
