Stop skimping on sprinkles, Mr Donut!

I try to resist, but every now and then when grocery shopping in Coles, I succumb to the temptation of a two-pack of Mr Donut doughnuts. I love the traditional jam variety but my two favourites are the choc jam ball and strawberry jam ball.

These are by no means restaurant quality items of decadence but they somehow hit my sweet spot, with their thick icing topped with multi-coloured sprinkles.

But over the past few years, I reckon Mr Donut has started skimping on the sprinkles. My memory is of almost half the doughnut being covered. Now, it's more like a quarter.

To me, the sprinkles are what make the doughnut perfect, but a generous covering is required to make it so.

I realise this doesn't qualify as one of the world's most pressing problems, but I'm still annoyed by it! I'd quite happily pay an extra few cents to restore the old levels of 'sprinkliness'.

Has anyone else noticed this? Are there other treats that you reckon aren't quite as laden with as much 'niceness' as they used to be?

If you're wanting to satisfy your sweet spot as I often do, then you're far better off health-wise to eat dark chocolate than doughnuts. Studies suggest antioxidant-rich dark chocolate with at least 50 to 70 percent cacao enhances blood flow, improves gut health, and eases stress — all effects that may indirectly strengthen your immune system.

Mmm..see what you mean...

Coles Iced Donuts 6 pack on special

you're supposed to save the last bite for the sprinkled part, LOL
