Shallotts
Next time you buy a bunch of shollotts instead of leaving them in the crisper to sadly wilt, plant them in your garden is even a pot and you will use the whole bunch.

Thanks for that PB.
The other word that I could not think of is Scallions.
I thought that I knew my onions ok.
Don't worry Davey I get them mixed up as well--also the potatoes
Depends on what state you live in - The lovely green shooted mild "onions" are still advertised as shallots in NSW. And yes I agree that you should put them in the ground, not in the fridge. They do better, if the roots have still been attached.
In NSW they are still a spring onion no matter what title you want to give them.
They grow chinese gooseberries in NZ but call them Kiwi fruit to market them but there is no such thing.
Kilometre.
This word is getting a lot of silly pronoucements these days too.
Correct is KILL O MEAT ERR
But many on radio and tv say
KEY LOM EAT AAHH
I know I'm nit picking but I'm getting old.

You are talking about Spring Onions I think.
I thought that shallots are small tasty onions with a brown skin.
