Sensitive to many older folk!
We live our lives being touched by our parents and then partners and our children!
Wonderful! as this is what humans need, but if a person is left alone without a partner
and children not close (and they forget Mum or Dad need hugs often anyway)
and the grandchildren not close either, many never experience what was once
a necessity of life and a joy and made us feel good.
I am not sure what the answer is because most of us would not appreciate strangers
hugging us but this is where our pets come in I feel. You can hug a cat and you can
hug a dog and species in most cases love their owners hugging attention, so no wonder
in case historys a pet (I feel one you can actually cuddle or have sit on our knee is
the best as although fish and birds are fantastic and maybe an extra pet) a dog or cat or
maybe a rabbit is a cuddly joy to a Seniors life if they are o.k. with the work involved in
looking after one of coursea I love to see pets taken into nursing homes for the residents
to have different degrees (as their health allows) to enjoy.
All the best
Phyl.
Yes Phyl, when your children have moved on with their lives and you live alone having someone to touch is very necessary, in my case anyway. We have one gorgeous lady in our groups who makes sure everyone gets a hug before we go our separate ways for the day. It has become part of our lifestyle now and we all agree it is important.
