Seniors get first access to travel vouchers

Who doesn’t love somebody else paying for your travel?

A few states are still giving away travel vouchers and Victoria has opened up its latest round to seniors first.

Victorians with a seniors card or seniors business discount card can register online from March 15 and a random ballot will allocate $200 vouchers to 10,000 people. The next round will be open to all from 23 March.

For more free stuff, try Midweek Melbourne Money where diners can claim up 25 per cent off their food and drink bill between Monday and Thursday, 25 per cent off food and wine experiences in regional Victoria and up to $125 in entertainment vouchers for theatre, music, cinemas, museums and galleries.

New South Wales has a range of vouchers available for travel and dining (visit nsw.gov.au) and Western Australia is handing out vouchers worth up to $2200 to arriving tourists.

JanYLC unfortunately the NSW Regional seniors transport card was yet another NLP election half truth to maintain National Party support at the last State election. It says and I quote from a letter sent to my by my local Nationals member: "To be eligible for the card you need to be either an aged pensioner or a superannuation and annuity income earner who lives in regional NSW. It's that simple." Well actually it is not that simple because my wife and I live in regional NSW we are superannuation and annuity earners but the rules were changed after the election so that only Commonwealth aged pensioners were eligible. When I protested and said this has nothing to do with Commonwealth, it specifically includes the words Seniors Card which is a State issue I was effectively told 'hard luck.' The Nationals have lost my vote for ever. They are more interested in $billion subsidies for their paymasters the foreign mining companies than local residents or farmers.
