Sarbi gets award

An explosives detection dog that spent more than a year missing in action in Afghanistan has received the RSPCA's purple cross award at the Australian War Memorial.

Sarbi served with Australian troops in Afghanistan but became separated from her handler during an attack in 2008.

War Memorial spokeswoman Carol Cartwright says it is only the second time the award has honoured an animal in war.

Carol Cartwright said "The award is an RSPCA award and it has gone to dogs that have saved people in house fires and heart attacks and things like that."

I saw the dog on tele. last night Fwed. What an amazing animal.

Wonderful to see the stories and does go to show animals can think.

..

I remember hearing about the dog saved it's owner from dying by dipping a

towel into the toilet and then into the man's mouth and as such enough

to stop him dying of dehydration.

..

It is wonderful how many people with disabilities can live on their

own away from family because they have a Companion Dog who is trained

in the needs of the person he/she helps.

Seggie. Wonderful wonderful dog. Talk about touching the heart. I'd love to give it a cuddle but I'm sure it will have tons of love from everyone.

Re dancing, Phyl. Don't expect me to skip. How energetic you are, to be sure, to be sure. I've available to sit and watch you dancing as long as the dances have supper.

Animals are the best people
