Salmonella fears spark nationwide recall
Hot on the heels of a worldwide recall of Kinder chocolate products is an urgent removal from Woolworths, Coles and IGA supermarket shelves of a range of sweet and confectionery products.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand says a collection of Elite branded items have been recalled to prevent people from potentially falling ill due to possible salmonella contamination.
The recalled products include:
- Elite Chocolate
- Elite Cakes
- Elite Wafers
- Energy Grain Snacks
- Energy Chocolate Rice Cakes
- Gum
- Toffee Candies.
All batches have been recalled, regardless of their use-by date or batch number.
The products have been sold nationally at Coles, Woolworths, IGAs, 7/11, independent Kosher stores and milk bars. Food Standards Australia New Zealand says the products should be returned to their place of purchase for a full refund.
Anyone concerned about salmonella should monitor for symptoms and seek medical advice.
