Robot mailmen trial underway in Brisbane

Australia Post has kick-started a trial of a robotic mailman delivering parcels in New Farm, Queensland this week.

New Farm residents will have the choice of having their parcels delivered to their door by a self-driving robot for four weeks from today, between 6pm and midnight.

While it is not completely futuristic just yet — the mobile locker will be accompanied by an Australia Post employee and will carry just one parcel at a time — it does indicate company could introduce robotic services in the future.

Would you trust a robot to deliver your mail?

Don’t see it happening any time soon

Trust a robot?

Well at the moment I have to trust a snail.

As long as it actually knocks on the door to deliver the goods I don't care. If it simply sticks the "missed you" card in the letter box, why bother with the expense of new technology when the current technology already does that?

Well we have politicions-- not that we trust them .

Between 6pm and midnight!!!!   who is going to wait up till then FGS

Just another target for the bored unsupervised children wandering the streets.I wonder if you have to sign for the parcel.

These would be targets for thieves.

Jobs and Growth Turnbul says -- what a bloody JOKE!!!!

it is going to deliver one parcel at a time,   lol, lol,    what if there are 6/7 in the one surburb,  ?      the little van would never stop,    another way to do away with workers,    no jobs now,    and everybody seems hell bent on cutting staff,      migrants coming in every door,     and jobs getting less by the day,         what a good move,   NOT,

Nope there are many reasons that wont work, some of them mentioned here already !!
