R.I.P. The 70s were a great time for Australians, with full employment, cheap housing, cheap healthcare, free education and a great welfare state.

The unemployment rate was low then Bookwyrm.

"In the period from the Second World War to the mid-1970s, the unemployment rate fluctuated around a longer-term average of 2 per cent, reaching as high as around 3 per cent, with a low point of around 1 per cent. "

More people working, more taxes, more revenue.
