Reduced super-co-contributions
In last year’s Commonwealth Budget the amount of Government super co-contribution for lower income earners was temporarily reduced to a maximum of $1000. This has now been proposed as a permanent reduction. The indexation of the minimum and maximum salaries applicable has also been put on hold for two years.
YOURLife Choices comment:
Any incentive to get individuals to contribute to their own super fund should be maximised. However, the aforementioned government contribution of $500 to those earning less than $37,000 is a step in the right direction.
