Re. Car Costs

Someone posted a bit on car costs (before the site went down and it disappeared) saying it cost ,I think, about $250 a week to run a car. BevG made the valid point that depreciation would be included. I think apart from depreciation the report would have included interest payments, replacing the car every 4 years or so, a substantial annual mileage requiring frequent and expensive servicing, and parking fees, etc etc, etc.
It reminded me of a report of a few years ago which stated that the cost of raising a child from birth to adulthood was something like $500,000. FGS I would have to have been earning the equivulent to $125,000 a year just for the expenses of my 5 kids. I wish!!!!!!. I always take these reports by "experts" with a grain of salt.

Well even if you don't take the car out of the garage it will cost you about $100 per week--with insurance/ rego/battery/ etc etc

Not too many pensioners driving cars then BevG

Or their car is so old it cant depreciate any further.
