Queen to hand duties over to Prince Charles

The Queen is preparing to gradually relinquish some of her duties as Monarch to Prince Charles in what is being dubbed a 'gentle succession'.

Queen Elizabeth is preparing to share some of her duties with the man next in line to the throne.

Prince Charles will be taking on more head of state-style responsibilities as the Palace starts to make tentative plans for his eventual succession.

Princes William and Harry will also play their part in the new set-up, with both assuming far more responsibility.

What do you think of the Queen job-sharing with Prince Charles? Would you prefer William and Harry to play a bigger role?

I really could not care less

And about time too.

Big deal.

I would prefer to see William take up the reins. I have no qualms with Charles but I would not be able to view the monarchy with the same respect  if Camilla is there so therefore I feel it's best to bypass Charles for William.

I would prefer William to Charles. I cannot forget his infidelity with horse head so why should we look up to the likes of him. I have no respect for Charles.

Very sensible of the Queen to set up a Regency after all in her 90s anything could happen to her health wise,  all the whole of her long life she has dedicated to the country it is surely time for her to  be able to enjoy a very small portion of her life to moving out of the limelight and just enjoying time with her husband, children and many grandchildren.

The British law of succession mean Charles will be King unless he himself were to abdicate that right to his oldest son, William.

Hope she enjoys her retirement from the public eye.

i wonder how much this royal circus costs UK taxpayers?

and do any of the 'royal' family pay tax?

does the income from tourists cover the very high expenses of this welfare-dependent family?

here are some stats.....

What about Australia footing the bill when they come to visit? When the Queen goes that will be their end. No one is interested in spineless Charles.

Why does it matter Kika? You are in Australia (I assume) and not paying for it.

The Queen deserves a bit of relaxed retirement and I have no problem with Charles becoming King. He hasn't done anything his predecessors didn't do.

On the more serious side it does raise the question of the Republic, oh boy I may has just presssed a hot button there, and when we become one. We will eventually and may as well face up to it.

Nah  you pressed the right button there. This is the time to think of a republic.

Actually like the Queen a lot,but let's face it the rest are a pain and dont see the point of wasting my money to pay for Charles to come here on frequent visits either

Not your money, its the taxpayers

have you ever paid tax brisvegas?

gst on grog doesnt count

Have no time for dunny budgies

Get off with you go on

Charlie and Camila Bowels would be two main reasons why I would favour a Republic. The thought of having to bow and scrape to these pair of morons makes my skin crawl

In the unlikely event you were ever invited to actually meet either Prince Charles or Camila, you would not be expected to 'bow and scrape' at all, merely to be respectful. Or is respect for anyone 'beyond the pale' for you Tanwin?

If it makes your skin crawl then you wouldn't do it, would you?  Perhaps plain old good manners and politeness makes your skin crawl as well.

I've taken the oath of allegiance a couple of time to serve the King and all heirs and successors. I think I may be breaking the successor vows when the Queen has retired.

I just hate the thought of our politicians who already think they are ROYALTY appointing one of their cronies to the top post and the taxpayer having to fund their castle and lifestyle.

From that viewpoint Charles seems a good option.

At least the queen is costing us very little

Yes, I agree, Suze.  Just check their taxpayer funded travel, upgrades for their offices,

overnight accommodation in their own properties but still charged to the taxpayer.

I thought Charles had been relegated to the Tower of London by the Queen.  Maybe not and maybe Carmilla has been taken into the foal after all these years.

she was , after she fixed her teeth

What would Princess Di look like today?

the short hair makes her look awful

Yeah! Makes Camilla look regal.

This story is just the usual Murdoch garbage.  Appeared in the UK Sun newspaper.  That says it all.

Not going to happen.

I have no interest anyway.  What the Royal Family does is their business only, not mine.  Her Maj doesn't interfere in my life, and I don't interfere in hers.  We get on famously that way.
