Prince of Hearts.

William is doing his mother proud.
ROYALTY has finally touched down in the cyclone-battered community of Cardwell.

Hundreds cheered and waved excitedly outside the Cardwell Community Hall as Prince William's Blackhawk helicopter, flanked by two others, touched down in the stifling humidity.

Shorts, thongs, tee-shirts and the smell of cooking snags greeted William as he warmly shook hands and chatted with Cardwell residents and enjoyed some far north Queensland hospitality.

"I can't believe we watched him grow up and here he is," one excited onlooker said as the prince approached.

The prince brought birthday cheer to a 102-year-old Betty Evans as she sat in her wheelchair clutching a birthday card sent by his grandmother the Queen on her 100th birthday.

Mrs Evans had to be evacuated from her nursing home when Cyclone Yasi tore through the town last month.
I am far from being a fan of the royal family but if this person's visit to the areas hit by disasters helps lift peoples spirits then that is a good thing.

I was concerned that primary school children in Ipswich were required to remain in the open for several hours waiting for the cavalcade. -From the idle chat of a radio reporter at the scene, enthusing about the arrival of the prince and not caring about all of those little bodies. Did they even give them water? If that was done to a dog the RSPCA would have been called. This time of the year Ipswich temps average in the high twenties and temps over 30C is forecast some days this week.

It makes me sick to see that way some people kowtow to this very wealthy, over-privileged young man.

who is paying for his trip, with all its security, etc.?

i hope he is. he can afford it easily.
