Pre-paid Funeral

Does anyone have a plan they can recommend, or have any advice for me?  This is something I want to get organised and out of the way so I can get on and enjoy the rest of my life.  I did intend to pre-pay a very basic cremation lump sum, but I don't like the bank balance getting too low.

Has anyone looked at the prices of natural funerals in green cemetries?

Cardboard coffins or even  just a shoud.  This must be cheaper than the standard coffin.  Instead of a headstone a tree can be planted over the grave - all very ecofriendly.

One site is: www.greencemeteries.com.au

I would suggest that those who are interested,  google "natural funerals" followed by the state (or capital city) in which you live.

Why worry

Spend all your money and have a Pauper's/Destitute Funeral and let the Government give you a last shout on your way out.

If you put money aside for your funeral , it is just as likely to be taken out by the Government to meet their Budget needs within 3 years.

Twila, there is/was a green cemetery here in Sydney.  It was run by the Catholics and only had around 300 spaces when I first read about it a few years ago.

Abby, what I'll most likely do is arrange and pay a cheap cremation now, while I'm well.  Then I'll spend my money. :)

The money may not be there when time comes for your cremation.

The company may go bankrupt

The deals are insured in the event of the company winding up.

I have no family that I can convey my wishes to.  Not that I'm that fussed about what happens, just that far distant rellies aren't hassled.

The whole thing's a nuisance really.  I wish there was a simple default plan for everybody from birth, that we could just opt out of and choose something else if we want.

That pauper's funeral is looking better every minute. :)

I am being cremated and scattered over Myer so that the daughters visit me each week

HaHaaah!!!

Good one Peter

Nice fish Peter .........
