PM tries to blame ATAGI

PM claims ATAGI advice is the main problem with the vaccination program. He's, as always, just trying to put the blame on others. The main problem is lack of vaccines, which is a result of his party being so very slow to order the vaccines, and then try to cover it up with the continuous claim 'there's no rush','We can take our time, etc.' ATAGI changing the advice about using Astra Zenica is a result of the blood clots, not ATAGI. Further, the PM's mob did very little to explain to the populace that all vaccines have had reactions, a few serious, and he did nothing to share/publicize that Astra Zenica has adjusted the serum. morrison needs to go.

C'mon; can we stop with the rhetorical questions regarding political leadership?

Isn't life is too short?

He and his cabal are politicians, AND he's a Sharks supporter [falling about laughing here], what do you expect?

You are correct Al, PM was warned in 2020 to stock up but he chose not to, now look at the mess the country is in. The oldies in nursing homes are lucky to have 5% of them done at all.

I had my first Vacc 31st. March then the flu jab and 21st june my 2nd vacc, I didn't have to make a booking my medical centre did it all and notified me directly. No reaction to astra at all.  I live 1 hour North of Adelaide small country town and we are all OK. The Govt has messed this roll out 100%, the GP's are doing a top job.

I refuse to accept a Cash less debit Card, I am 83 full age Pensioner and manage my finances  very well, I do not Gamble, drink or smoke.

Yep that sounds like Morrison for sure

Wish this article would provide some broader perspective and balance. Sure not all has gone well, but who in the world has got this right? NO ONE.. we are dealing with a unknown fast moving virus which has every country struggling to cope.

By all means dish out criticism but also apply that same scrutiny to yourself.. I guess the quest for 100% perfection continues.

I don't buy your response. I totally agree; the whole world is in the grips of a serious dangerous pandemic, handling it is an ongoing learning process and we are nowhere near a perfect answer. Thanks for your suggestion but I don't need to scrutinize myself. I didn't and wouldn't say I want a 100% perfect answer, that's ridiculous/unrealistic. But I do expect a lot more from morrison.

When you look at other countries around the world I think Mr Morrison has tried very hard to protect Australians. His situation was not helped by other countries clubbing together to push for the vaccine to go to them first and consider the  logistics involved to obtaining the more effective vaccine in its early stages of development.

Why is it that some people are never happy with what they have. It is all very easy to criticize in hind sight. I agree some things could have been done differently but  overall I think we are very lucky to live in Australia.

I don't really buy this comment in regard to vaccines.

I do agree that morrison and his team did a good job in regard to keeping the community able to survive well with jobkeeper, business support etc., Well done!

But I don't agree he's done OK re the vaccines. His team are well experienced (or maybe they aren't, e,g, barnaby joyce), therefore they should have been well on top of the global activity to buy the vaccines.

Plus I find it utterly unacceptable that they simply lied to the populace with their continuous comments 'there's no hurry' 'we can take out rime', when they knew well the delays were bringing very serious problems and danger for the country. They were telling lies, this is highly despiteful and highly disrespectful.

Morrison is always full of what he is going to do but hardly ever follows through,  or rips it off some other area

I guess we need to change his nickname to Slomo as it describes his actions which are always a reaction to an existing situation which has been begging for something to be done.

Looking back at his performance since he became P.M. shows this very well in that he does not lead but reacts and usually in a political way. His reactions show a huge degree of self interest as he only appears to working to be re-elected. His ability to either deflect tricky questions or blame someone else is really legendary as he has it to raised to an artform.

Yes everybody makes mistakes but genuine people accept that, apologise and work to correct their mistake. Slomo does not do this and has never apologised for anything.

I agree Tom Tank. This mob lead by Slomo has had their time in passing the blame to all except themselves for long enough. Time for a CHANGE!

I agree the lack of vaccines belongs firmly at the feet of federal LN P. More worrying is the fact those under 50 are being urged to have AZ. This morning I rang several local medical centres advertising 'walk in's' welcome. I was advised this applied only to over 50's as 'political advice is not medical advice' and no vaccination would be offered to a 42 year old.

Call again tomorrow, you'll probably get a different response.

You should try reading the ATAGI advice for yourself rather than reporting 'hearsay'. ATAGI has NEVER said only people over 50 should have the AZ vaccine.

The TGA (and most other countries) approved the AZ vaccine for people over 18. ATAGI also made the same determination. After the very few bloodclot cases, ATAGI did NOT change their original advice at all. They did make a recommendation that (first) people under 60 then people under 50 be offered Pfizer vaccination. However, the advice that people outside these ages could consult their GP and still have the AZ vaccine if they wanted it remained. That advice has not changed no matter what the press and social media says. People have always had the option of the AZ vaccine following a consultation with their GP. That was not something Mr Morrison decided at all, just go and look at the ATAGI advice.

We can compare any spin we like, but the problem was the politicians put business continuity ahead of safety and tried to balance their books by ordering less vaccines from fewer suppliers, which meant when things turned bad, we were exposed.

We know we are a long way from the vaccine suppliers and that the local countries had more pull than Australia, especially after our government turned down a special deal with Pfizer.  A couple of Island nations with good economies were given a special deal and our government rejected it.  No wonder that when they went back, cap-in-hand for more in a hurry, they didn't get a great reception.

This is the born to rule brigade, never admit a mistake, never say sorry, never apoligise, and always find someone else to blame.  This same behavior is now being used by Gladys in NSW the so called Gold Standard for managing the Pandemic.

There is always someone else to blame.

Really is there anyone in the Morrison government that is worthwhile -- look at them all -- all have done crooked things and are getting away with it

what in gods name was the point of all those pics, strange !!  they should be removed from this forum !!

ROFL

Like the pics PlanB, are you suffering from lockdown fever? LOL

While you're at it, can you tell me the name of their dentist?

What between sports rorts /car parks/ water rorts/ they are all into something crooked

Yes the pics consume way too much cyber space, but it serves as a reminder of a gang of many incompetent and some unethical people who want to run a ship which currently needs much more expertise and insight than this gang. At least two of this gang should not, in my humble opinion be in the government: the woman who got caught in highly unethical actions in the sports rortes, and the deputy PM who is a crazy man and should not be making decisions for our country.

Yes AL,

that's why I posted the photos, all of these creeps have done wrong and crooked things with our money

Must be an election coming up, we can't be critical of anything the opposition has done or how they have tried to help the country fighting this pandemic, because they have done nothing except try to take political advantage of a situation that no other country in the world has been able to solve, this comment applies to politicians from Federal and state governments alike. There have been many different excuses for why the vaccine roll out hasn't been as good as it should have been, ie some of our doses were rerouted to Italy, some were sent to New Guinea, the Federal opposition complained at the beginning we were moving too quickly towards purchasing any vaccine that had not been fully tested, but the government took the punt and invested in 3 different vaccines 2 of them worked out, the Astra Zeneca was the preferred vaccine because it could be manufactured here in Australia, and should have given us a huge advantage, as soon as the blood clotting incidents occurred everyone suddenly became experts, social media and anti vaxxers spread the fear, many on this site had already stated they wouldn't get the jab for a variety of reasons, and this was before the blood clots had become an issue, it wouldn't have mattered how well or how poorly we did there will still be many people who will seize the opportunity to take an advantage and attack those people in authority because they can't see beyond their political bias, this is evident across the world.

Finally a post with sense.

Well it's clear which party you're aligned to.

Silly post. Bottom line, no matter how you try to twist the facts, Australia was very very slow compared to most of the world to place orders for vaccines.

You mentioned ' ...many people who will seize the opportunity to take an advantage and attack those people in authority because they can't see beyond their political bias.'. You should aim that comment to many in the current coalition government.
