All that we love, deeply

becomes a part of us.

Walter Rinder

Another poem by Walter Rinder.

A Child's Dream

How soft his face as he looked upon

The knight, with strength undaunted

Resting on the blood soaked earth

His mind of wars, was haunted.

Let this child erase your tears

Of these things they know not of

For in the eyes of a little child

There is sincerely love.

He watches clouds as they amble by

and feels the breeze caressing

but does he see, into this face

affection, that's Gods blessing!

Then for a moment their eyes did meet

and the tears within his eyes

disappeared, as the night was born

For there he slowly died.

This little child of natural beauty

can only give in innocence, unspoiled

for man who sets the wars a-churning

uproots this little child he toiled.

May my Heart always be open to Little Birds

e. e. cumming

may my heart always be open to little
birds who are the secrets of living
whatever they sing is better than to know
and if men should not hear them men are old

may my mind stroll about hungry
and fearless and thirsty and supple
and even if it’s sunday may i be wrong
for whenever men are right they are not young

While living in Denmark, we had the opportunity of visiting Norway to see the Northern Lights

Magnificent. An awesome experience (pic from internet)

That would be incredible. Something I would love to see.

I agree must be amazing to see.

Closer to home this beautiful site in Western Australia. Its called the Pink Lake - it's  a salt lake in the Goldfields-Esperance region of WA. It lies about 3 kilometres west of Esperance and is bounded to the East by the South Coast Highway.  Looks amazing from the air!

Micha,

I am none too sure if that is the Esperance Pink Lake of which you speak. Appears to be too close to the coast. There are a number of lakes that turn pink in the area, and other colours for that matter.

I drive past Pink Lake on a regular basis.

Where did you get the picture from.

Take it easy.

Its Lake Hillier on Middle Island...

Pete,

Quite some distance from Esperance.

There was a Pirate had Middle as his home. Foul murders and such like occurred as I recall.

He dumped a couple of English lads ashore on the mainland without provisions and they managed to walk to Albany with the help of the local aborigines.

I have written about it as part of another work, the work not yet complete, sidetracked on another project.

Take it easy.

SD: this is how the post reads:

Did not say Esperance, and did say three kilometres from Esperance

A bit of more careful reading mate?

Micha,

Pink Lake is on the Tourist loop, as stated possibly 3k west of Esperance but is not the lake pictured. The lake pictured on Middle Island is way to the east.

You need an overnight to get there on a yacht, usually at Lucky Bay. Cannot recall the exact distance. Rough country from a sailing point of view.

Who took the picture ?

Take it easy.

Micha,

I just checked my map and the South Coast Highway does not appear to run out to Middle Island or anywhere near it. Pity, would have made for a nice drive rather than a slow trip on a boat.

Take it easy.

SD:

I have it on film where we went. Unfortunately I haven't got the expertise to post our film, but I just wanted to decorate the post if you like and got the picture from here:

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=pink+lake+wa&rlz=1C2GGGE_enAU390&biw=1067&bih=517&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=rlZ9VLyCOczf8AW8rIKICA&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg

That's where we went and travelled by air, not land. Have you seen from the air? Maybe that's the reason it looks different to you.

Micha,

Seen most of it from the air. The one 3k from Esperance quite often.

I had an aviation business here and found my bum strapped to an aircraft on the odd occasion.

Prior to that I had been flying in to Esperance and in the general area off and on since 1971. I guess you could say I have seen a bit of the area from the air and on the ground.

Take it easy.

A few years ago, I visited Angkor Wat in Cambodi and found it truly remarkable. When archeologists cleared jungle around the site, they determined that the temple and city surrounding it comprised an area roughly equivalent to todays Los Angeles. Certainly worth a look if you are ever in the area.

Would love to visit there. A few years ago when we were in Vietnam , had made arrangements. But a kidnapping of expat school kids that weekend ruined our plans.

when did you visit kfc?

kfchugo...never visited Cambodia..I've always been interested but have been put off by incidents occurring there. Would like to do Vietnam/Cambodia next year.

What time of year did you travel and was the weather very humid...also did you go on an organised tour?

Peter and I want to visit the "Zoo" at Toronga Park suburb of Melbourne. :)

Of course we have been there quite a few times when the kids were young, but we adults perhaps forget how we enjoyed the places we went, when our kids were younger.

For us it will mean a a walk or taxi to the Station, catch a train for near a couple of hours each way, and a tram or change trains in Melbourne, and a stay at a Motel (nice though with a dinner out) :) also cats have to go for a 2 night stay at the Cat hotel.

Davey and Geo. may have used the planes at Traralgon Airport? we were able to jump on a plane so close, and visit Interstate, but sadly they stopped the service darn it. Maybe they might get it going again.

We used to receive a nice meal both ways and it was fun. Strange no bag check at Traralgon, but everyone had to depart and wait until all bags and us checked, to go on from Canberra - hmm what are we down this way hamburger meat lol.

I know exactly what you mean Phyl about how we forget the fun we had with our kids when they were young. Last school holidays, we took a couple of Fleur's grandkids to Perth Zoo. They had a great time, so did we. Mari and I can't wait for our own grandchildren to come over to Oz so we can share some of the things we did with their parents!

Phyl once my children grew up and no grandchildren either I went to the Zoo with a friend. Amazing the things I saw and could just stand and watch without half an eye open on a child, sounds terribly selfish but something so worth doing and enjoyable without children in tow.

Hi Sol welcome back.. How was the trip did you visit any East Coast Islands or Singers...

Popeye I see you worked in Eastern Europe whereabouts ? And retiring to Darwin now that's a go go city .,,

Hi Pete.

Spent most of my time around KL, Malacca and Kuantan. In between was sick as a dog for a few days from street food.

Jonker St Malacca was excellent as were the historical Portugese sights.

Stayed in Kuantan City and visited surrounds from there. Met up with an old friend who still lives there.

KL has changed a lot since I last visited 7 years ago. Traffic is worse with heavy construction of monorail system everywhere. Still food was good and shopping cheap

Did not make it to Singers, ran out of time. In any cSe we might get there for a wedding next year

I lived in Malaya for seven years.  Speaking to friends, I know it has changed enormously since then.

Last year, I spent a few days in Singapore on my way to Greece. Singapore has certainly changed ... can't say that it is all for the better.

If anyone has  the chance I would suggest visiting the Cyclades, especially Santorini and Paros.  Superb.

Twila,

Never been in that part of the world

I always hoped to do some cruising about the Greek Isles on a yacht. Never happened sad to say.

Take it easy.
