No Longer E10 - now UNLEADED with ethanol added

local SHELL service station now has No E10 unleaded pumps..

Only Shell UNLEADED + ethanol ...

they have leaflets saying that all shell unleaded petrol is now UNLEADED + ethanol..

it also says on the leaflet -

NOT SUITABLE FOR MARINE CRAFT OR GARDEN EQUIPMENT

Now that should be on every pump with Ethanol... IMHO...

Thanks for the tip Plan B we do use ULP for our lawnmower and edger plus other garden items.

But for the car I use Premium as high performance engine so hopefully that will remain just petrol.

Only 2 choices down here ULP and Premium but then I only go to Caltex stations as find it is best for my car and has been tuned to it .

I have been told by a few mechanics never to use the e10 as it gunks up the engines--I have a 25 year old car ad it needs to be run on the Premium----even if I had a newer car I would not use the e10

I thought I had sent this post early today, US time, but I odn't see it here now. So I resend.

This article is about boat engines but many of the reasons for not using it in a boat engine also apply to yard engines, car engines, tractor engines. I could not get the article to let me to copy so I will just post the link and the title stuff.

The article I am posting tells about the use of alcohol additives in gas and the problems it can cause.

There might be materials that do not do well with alcohol, gaskets and hoses for example. The alcohol does not lubricate, it dries things off, and that will cause a lot more wear in the engines. It is so costly to produce in the US that the government subsidizes the cost to make it easier for the suppliers to price it in a competitive to gas price range.

In the US the taxpayers get hurt twice. 1. Taxes paid to subsidize alcohol. 2. Pay more for an inferior product.

Important E10 Information for Marine & Boat Owners

WARNING: E10 gasoline is not safe for most boat engines due to ethanol's ability to attract and absorb water into fuel...

EDIT: I just found that I had posted the same topic on a different forum. OK, now it is posted here as well. Be glad that they are taking the alcohol gas away.

I am confused - E10 is 90% unleaded plus 10% ethanol

I notice my local BP servo only has the etnanol mix so I don't go there any more as I use ordinary unleaded.
