Perth pension review
Sheduled in Perth for 9am,normally takes me about 1/2 an hour up the freeway to Perth. Left home at 7.30 thinking I would allow 1 hr
well that was the first mistake, took 1.1/2 hours in the morning rush.
I scuttled in only slightly late.
There were aprox 35 people there most of whom were from one organisation or another. Plus a journalist from the West Australian.
I had prepared a submission in case I couldn't get heard.
As it happened I was able speak, not the total of my submission, in closing I asked if either of the men who were in charge felt that they could ive on $40 a week for food? They looked at each other and just shook thier heads!
I must have done something right because the man who did the organising and a person from the review came and spoke to me after the meeting. Made positive comments about how I had framed my submission
The government guy was sympathetic to our cause BUT he can only take what was said to the minister, hopefully he can also give a positive overview for us.
There were a variety of cases of how difficult things were, put forward by a number of the speakers, so hopefully, these will get to ministerial level.
It was also put that we need help NOW not have to wait untill the review is finally done
So boys and girls I've tried
Thanks caddie, it's great to see that someone is actually doing something. I hope we are all going to support the "email your local member" day on 1st October. I intend sending the same email to relevant Federal and State members as well.
