Well human nature will out Jessej - they arrive having paid for their tickets - some say as much as $19K au per person on the boats from Indonesia or Malaysia where they travelled by commercial air with documents and lived waiting for smuggler place.



Of course now since Labor altered it also for children travelling alone - they are finding it cheaper to send a child who once accepted alone as a refugee then immediately without any 2 year wait for citizenship we - not the child - we the taxpayer send for his parents and siblings air fares paid and a home waiting furnished with new stuff not second hand ready and a nice little welfare cheque for the rest of their lives and of course the sweetener, for each new bub $5K and a rise in the fortnightly payment into their bank.



Doctors have said that many of these children who have to 15 or under are actually up to age 25 but they are not being allowed to prove it by this government. A new rort and humans will always find the loop holes to rort and this is a biggie.



Whilst the adults get 89% of the single dole on registering their arrival on Christmas Isle and then free room and board with holiday camp facilities to entertain them along with free phone home cards to tell the rellies how long til they send for them on family reunion and a home to look forward to given in front of the Aussies waiting patiently for a house themselves



As Toot said many of our age pensioners would be heaps better off getting into a boat and sailing over to Christmas Island destroying their identity papers.



Could pretend to be from Egypt where they are now burning Christian churches and chasing out the people.

Muslims simply do not tolerate any other religion or culture. Why oh why don't we realize the danger of bringing in too many here as they are beginning to regret in Europe.

Don't have time to read any more, I am still trying to work out what to do with this huge single age pension rise.



We should be grateful,some say, but somehow it doesn't quite make up for the rise in Water and Electricity,let alone the cost of groceries,. Mind you I had a lousy education so maybe that is why I can't work it out and our Treasurer had a good one, or maybe he didn't, now that would explain why he has got the figures wrong, perhaps he should have his diploma revoked till he can work out that the rise in everyday living and the commodities rise and what we get on a pension compared to those aforementioned new comers, not only doesn't quite work out, and why we are not sending truck loads of mail containing thank you notes.

These Age Pension payment rates are effective from 20 March 2011.



Single $670.90*

Couple $505.70* each

*These amounts exclude the Pension Supplement amount which is currently a maximum of $58.40 a fortnight for singles and $88.00 a fortnight for couples (combined).

This means that those on the single pension full rate will get $729.30 and a couple will get $1099.40 (combined)

Hi people, looking at the figures quoted for the pensions after the rise and including the supplement here is an invite to a party on the first of july 2012, yes I said 2012. You see that is the date (at the moment unless they change the rules in the meantime) that I will be able to claim the age pension.



In case you are wondering why I am so keen to celebrate being that much older, I will be 64 and a half then, you see going on current figures I will have an extra $209.90 each fortnight.



The figure quoted for the single aged pension as of the 20th march this year is $729.30 , the widow allowance goes up to the figure of $519.40 a fortnight so you can see why my two dogs and I share chicken frames and vegies.



In actual fact if it was not for the fact of having my two dogs I doubt I would eat as well because there would be less of a reason to cook vegies etc.



So maybe I can get them to do the federal budget they could not do any worse than the current treasurer, here kids ,peekay, mason come to mumma we are about to do the budget for the country.

Yes Toot - it will arrive but hopefully the carbon tax will not be arriving with your transition to better times on the Age Pension. Lets all cross everything that the dim witted wake up to the fact that it is not worth bankrupting us all with hikes in food and energy to save 0.015% of carbon we add to the world. Because the science is not yet in that proves it really is carbon and taking aboard that it was double millions of years ago well before man arrived.



I see that the gap between the married and single pension is even bigger again due to percentages and of course that $30 Rudd gave and Gillard begrudged the single person. $359.40 a month less for holding a current marriage certificate for each person of a couple. Bit much used to be $30 a week less not that long ago - around 2000.



But no one sees the discrimination due to the use of words once again.

Sound alright on first view - but 2 do eat double that of 1 and the cost of their other needs are double that of 1. Only shared thing is the roof and the power to cook a meal - and power concessions are based on household not on marital status. Probably the single home owner is the worst off because of paying he same rates if anything along with the measly rent allowances for private rentals.



And the singles do get brain washed into use of electricity for cooking the favourite - same for 1 as for 2.



How about the use of the water to flush the loo for marrieds then - double or are we supposed to share the water too? I mean it is facetious the way it is argued.



We even only get half the pharmaceutical benefit too - what I wonder at times is the justification for that - 2 get only half as sick a one?



Nope it is a con by all the governments. Saving a bit for other things maybe. At he expense of old folks past working but not past voting!

But then Julia said that we dont vote Labor - well I dont for one and then chose the best of a bad bunch on offer.



Hey maybe single men and women should get higher wages than marrieds people or defactos and gays - that would pull them into line with the benefits paid would it not? Rofl..........Guess what the scream would do to that idea.
