Pension - How many reports do we need?

On the subject of money a report presented this week to the Federal Government has suggested that the single Age Pension is not just insufficient, it’s also lower than that available in comparable OECD countries. Did someone say Duh? AboutSeniors has raised the need for an increase repeatedly, yet we are still wondering when this, or any, government will actually do something. Read more detail on the pension report and send an email to your local member to apply pressure for an increase now!

All we need is as many reviews, committee meetings, and further reviews as the Government deems necessary, to avoid having pensioners gain a single cent of the money that is hanging there, in limbo, for the emissions trading scheme. (Which will not change a darn thing)

Yes you are right there Bev--not a thing--but will waste a heap of money

Dear Bv & Plan B

thanks for your replies - there are a few more listed under my blog as well - isn't it sad we have become so cynical about the speed with which this problem will be tackled!

Let's keep the pressure up.

It seems to me that politicians think that if they keep talking about what they are GOING to do, that we will be fooled into thinking they are really going to do something. Yes, we are disillusioned and it becmes increasingly difficult to stay positive about anything actually being done. Somewhere in the Hot Topcs someone suggested we all send emails to our local members on the same day, I think we should also add Kevin Rudd, Wayne Swan and Jenny Macklin, plus their opposition equivalents. Those groups who are talking out on behalf of Seniors need to know that we are not just sitting on our behinds waiting for something to happen, so write to the major papers, keep it short, lucid and to the point and you will have a better chance of having it printed.

The only time Governments seems to react quuckly is when they are giving themselves pay rises or handing out rforeign aid.

Governments are NOT accountable!!!

Promising everything before elections and then lots of reviews etc. after.

If governments were private companies they would go broke. Anyone who believes everything promised in election campaigns are very naive.

And I am predicting our $500 per year bonus will be cancelled in the future too.

It is just a carrot to try to keep us quiet for a while.

My husband and I are doing okay on the pension as we have managed funds, financed by my husbands superannuation thus providing us with extra income as an annuity pension.

But I feel very sorry for people who have no nest egg and rely on the aged pension as their only income.

Maybe Mr. Dudd could spare a moment and find some compassion to grant pensioners a decent rise in their payments.

BUT I doubt it!!!!!

Moggy

Moggy, the Govt made it quite clear the $500.00 bonus was a one off.

Koko we got it last financial year, when Howard was in government, and we received it this financial year from Mr. Dudd.

I wonder if we will receive it next year??
