Peanut sauce PLEASE

Does anyone have a recipe for a nice peanut sauce please--I have bought the ones in the jars from the supermarket BUT they have a real sharp taste to them and didn't like them at all. I would like one that tastes like peanut with no sharp taste at all.

Ever grateful if you can let me have one. Thanks

Sorry cannot help you Jane as I have never tasted Peanut Sauce.

What would you have with it?

Is it for stir frys or a certain variety of meat?

All the best

Phyl.

Yes Phyl--can have it as a stir fry or chicken on skewers with rice lovely if you get the right one--however the ones that I have bought in bottles are very sharp must have lemon or such and I can't stand the sharp taste.

I will check tomorrow to see if someone has a good one

If you can get to an Asian grocery store, look for "Jimmy's" sate sauce.....jar with a green label. It is concentrated and you need to stir before use as the oil rises to the top. I mix it with "crunchy" peanut butter and either some chicken stock or beer (depending on my mood).

For a good dipping sauce, try one large teaspoonful of "jimmy's" with the same of peanut butter and about half a stubby of beer/stock then just bring it up to "simmer" for a few minutes.....if you like it thicker, just add some peanut butter. Its pretty "forgiving" stuff......play around with it. Add a teaspoon or two plus some peanut butter and beer/stock to a chicken stir fry and you have instant satay chicken.......its great stuff.

Thanks hugo ............I will give it a go ................

Thanks Chugo-- just what does this “Jimmy’s” sate sauce" have in it ? I was under the opinion that Satay was just peanut ? ie what taste does this have please--don't have an an Asian store anywhere near me and would have to travel about $130 ks there and back to try and find one

Hi PlanB.....dont know what is in the sauce, maybe its "eleven secret herbs and spices"? It does have some chili, but is not ferociously hot - anyway, you can add a little and increase to taste. Many good deli's or even Coles/Woolies have an Asian section and you can often get it there. If you cant get "Jimmy's" try another sate sauce to see if you like it.........they are usually only about $4 - $5.

To save walking all over town, jump on the phone and call a few places.

Yes thanks Chgo--I have bought about 4 types of this in the supermarkets and all have a very sharp taste--I don't want any taste but peanut--I have looked on the labels and the last one I bought didn't have chilly labels or lemon but tasted very sharp

Thanks for the info. kfc. I would not have known anything about Jimmys but on Googling sounds fantastic BUT I have never tasted any cooking with peanut butter or peanut taste other than biscuits so I am in for an adventure but isn't that the fun of life?

We do have Asian shops so tomorrow will be the day for Jimmys.

All the very best

Phyl.

We are having Jimmy's sauce over and through cut up Chicken tenderloin and mixed Asian veges. stir fried in the wok for dinner tonight and having tasted a little spoonful of the sauce it is lovely.

If we had not met kfc I for one would never have known such a sauce existed but also Jane for asking.

It has given me a new dimension in cooking as has fried rice thanks to kfc also.

Stir fries are so very easy to cook. Is it frys or fries?

Maybe fries are chips and frys are fry-ups? But in stir ones just a bit of good quality oil so arn't they healthy and very yum.

Cannot invite you all over for dinner though as Peter and I are starving and going to wait to eat until dinner is cooked and it will not be long as I am going to get it started now.

Hope everyone has something tasty for dinner.

Phyl.

How nice you are able to have the sause Phyl--I have not been able to see that Jimmy's sause anywhere here--I am going to try to make my own with peanut butter and coconut cream--will try it and see how it goes. I am having prawns for tea tonight. Hope that you enjoy your tea Phyl--

Peter loves prawns with a passion Jane so I think he would be over at your house for dinner regardless he likes the chicken I know he prefers prawns. We are having prawns on the barbe. (just us two :( all on our own but will be good.

for Christmas dinner. I bet you buy Aussie prawns like us and not the ones grown in the not so good water.

Good luck with the peanut sauce. sounds like the right ingredients and will not be tart which you do not like.
