The Aqua superyacht is a futuristic design that comprises of five decks, Bill Gates new toy!

Powered by liquid hydrogen.

However, perhaps an alternative would be  the use of melanin in conjunction with water to convert electromagnetic radiation into electrical energy.

The liquid hydrogen is pumped through special PEM fuel cells which convert it into electricity which runs the engines and electronics on board. The supply is moderated using two fuel cells to make sure it stays constant. The only emission from the system is water, which can be safely pumped into the ocean

Boris Johnson has revived plans to build a 20 billion [stirling] bridge between ScotlandAnd Northern Ireland.

He looks good dressed up as Brunel!

Apparently it is a copy of the link between Sweden and Denmark.

Boris Johnson has revived plans to build a £20 billion bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland – with engineers looking to copy the link between Sweden and Denmark which featured in a hit 'Scandi noir' crime drama

Local geography might dictate that two artificial islands would be needed to span the North Channel.

Although Mr Johnson's critics have described the idea as 'pie in the sky' and a waste of public money, the Prime Minister believes that it would ease the strain on air routes between the mainland and Northern Ireland and would help to cement the Union.

At 20 miles, it would still be dwarfed by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge-tunnel system, which traverses 30 miles of water.

The structure spanning the greatest expanse of open sea is the 22.4-mile Hangzhou Bay Bridge in China.

The world's longest bridge of all, again in China, is the 102-mile Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge on the Beijing-Shanghai railway.

Waste of money, fast forward a couple of centuries and Ireland could again become one country, don't laugh, stranger things have happened. lol

Interesting theory for the future!

Interesting but what a huge undertaking ot would be.

YLC -- another slow news day??  The yacht has NOT been ordered by Bill Gates - please be factual in your reports eh?  cheers

And this from a man who says he wants to live modestly? If true, what's the bet it will be up for sale in a few years, because they 'rarely used it', or 'was too expensive to run' (even for him).

Bill Gates has nothing to do with it !!

Actual headline from the quoted article in Celia's original post ...

Designer denies Bill Gates has commissioned a $645million 370ft eco-friendly superyacht powered by liquid hydrogen

Bill Gates, 64, had been linked to the super yacht for his love of sailing and keen interest in green energy. In a statement, Sinot said claims the vessel's concept had been bought by Gates were 'factually incorrect'.

Media beat-up misread IMO.

As usual media puts out fake news, adding bits and pieces of misinformation

Who cares who commisioned the Aqua???

It is a great piece of modern technology

I meant to put this site up some time back, it is interesting to see where all the boats are, especially if you have family on a cruise you can see where they are!

Thanks Celia.

:( The map might be looking very empty in the near future Celia.

Cruise lines that have recently cancelled future cruises due to the corona virus include Viking, Princess, P&O, Cunard, Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Disney, MSC, etc. Many destinations have also banned cruise ships as well.

Hopefully this time next year things may have improved.

Hi RnR.

I was   shocked to hear a friend in the UK who has 3 adult children, all of them have booked cruises this summer!       Another friend in the US has cancelled their cruise for July and wanted to make sure they received their deposit back, she apprently are scared they will go bankrupt.
