OH BOY, Toyota

So we now have the Federal govt and the State (Vic) government offering between them, $70 million of taxpayers money to Toyota, to build so called eco friendly cars, which, at $33,000.00 each, will be beyond the reach of the average person; plus the fact we are told it would take somewhere between 10 and 25 years of driving such a car, to recoup the savings on fuel.
Now, I just hear on the news, that Toyota had plans prior to the govt offers, to go ahead with the production of the hybrid cars.
These so called "green" policies are what will send this country broke, and in a very short time.

Hi KoKo. Im new here.

I think young Kev has been taken for a ride (no pun intended) after story in yesterday's press from Hyundai who have developed an LPG/electric car about a year ago and have 100 running around in Korea. They are suited to our conditions, could be on the market by the end of next year, and can be as low to run as 3c/km, compared to a petrol 6 cylinder costing around 15c/km. No details on the price but with LPG at about half the cost of petrol they should sell even if they are a little dearer

Why didnt Kev's advisers pick up on this before he willingly threw $75M of our money at Toyota??
