Now I'm Cranky.

Last Wednesday I was in a hurry to post a present to my sister. I drove to a parking bay near the Post Office. I saw the 2 hour Parking Sign and a car was backing out of the parking lane so I drove in.

I was only away for about 15 minutes. When I came back to my car, there was a parking fine on the wipers. I read it when I got home and was shocked to read there was a penalty of $110.00.

I immediately rang the Council and spoke with a Parking Ranger who informed me I had parked "Front to Kerb". I went back to the parking space the next day and the sign did say "Rear to Kerb" but there were at least 6 cars parked front to kerb.

I will appeal this fine as I'm a stickler for doing the right thing. I have never had any parking or speeding infringements over the last 48 years.

I also read in the Sydney Morning Herald that my Council had booked the highest number of infringements in my area for the month of August to the sum of $550,000. More than any Police in the area. Other Councils had reduced or had not issued notices due to COVID.

Hola sorry to hear about this.

You can always write to the Minister of Local Government in your state and explain the situation as you have found it, also isn't there an Ombudsman you can write to also?

What about your local member in that area you could chat to they are probably coming close to an election ours is in two weeks!

They sound a very petty Council to me.

Hola I would recommend you write a snail mail letter rather than emails, they seem to circulate to the CEOs better than emails!  LOL

Writing to the Mayor may be a good way to go beside the CEO of the Council which are two different posts don't forget.

Celia - Thanks for all your information and I will certainly follow it up, I'll keep you all up to date

with the results.

Like the selfie Cat lol

That's a disgrace Hola, you go them and good luck.  It's really annoying that you have to sit down and write a letter, it shouldn't happen.

Toot -- too true. The parking cops are all cowboys in this area.  What a shocking job.

Don't blame you for feeling cross .Hola .. seems petty to me.

Hope you are feeling better this morning Hola?

So, you did not follow the instructions of the powers that be and did not park the right way,

now you want them to reverse said charges because other renegades did the wrong thing. No wonder Australia is going to rack and ruin

That is not the way it happened, why do you always have to be such a smart a*rse., you never have a nice thing to say to anybody on this site.

Boy, you are Cranky these days. I do say nice things to people. See above, I told Cat I like her selfie and she is winking at me!

Lucca I have never met a guy that loves to rub people up the wrong way like you do!

You have a passion for doing it do you know?

Probably you don't realize you hurt some folks here and then they run away and don't make any comment, it must be very hard for the General Manager here to get the site off and working with someone that upsets so many folks.

Try to be nice and helpful, I am sure he would be very appreciative if you did smile a little and help frustrated seniors.

Image result for Animated Smiling  Life has been hard enough for this old planet, we needs some folks to smile and be supportive.  Please have a go at it.

Oh....give it a rest Celia!!!

I for one like reading Lucca's nonsensical comments, which have more than a grain of truth in them, by the way.

They counterbalance your constant whinging about your "health issues" on every thread, which frankly, I find quite boring.

Once is enough, constant repetition is unnecessary!!

Celia - He can't even address you by your name and just refers to you as "Cat". That speaks for itself.

I think you and Cat need to go to church and pray for will power to stop picking on a poor defenceless lad

Presumably this was in NSW. Don't have that ridiculous rule in SA. I always park front to kerb as I believe it is the only correct way to park, better than fouling the exhaust pipe on the kerb (or, worse still, hit a pedestrian or a post), and I get a little impatient with those who park to the kerb in reverse, using reversing cameras of course, because they take so long to do so. Once upon a time in various jurisdictions other than NSW, it was actually illegal to park rear to kerb.

Please don't confuse this with parallel reverse parking which is a perfectly legitimate manoeuvre.

They will inform you how not to pay this parking fine issued by a local council, it's worked for me and many friends.

I parked in a derestricted street about 10am.

When I returned to the car in the afternoon, there was an infringement notice on the windscreen which stated it was issued due to parking at an expired meter.

"Uh" I exclaimed to myself "this is a derestricted zone"

Then I noticed the parking meter!

"Hang on" I exclaimed to myself again "the meter wasn't here when I parked this morning."

Then I noticed the parking sign a little way down the street which I walked to and it displayed 4 hour meter parking 9am to 6pm; but it was definitely not here when I parked.

I of course disputed the fine but the plea was disallowed because although it was agreed that the meter was installed after I had parked, it was "deemed" that the meter was installed at 9am!

After several weeks of toing and froing and me threatening to report the Council to the Ombudsman, they gave in and cancelled the fine.

You say you're a stickler for doing the right thing. You parked contrary to the instruction on the sign. That was not doing the right thing. It's irrelevant that you were in a hurry to post a present or that you were only away for 15 minutes or that other drivers also parked nose in - you did the wrong thing. I don't blame you for being cranky, but you should be cranky with yourself, not with the Council, who did the right thing.

Well, Hola, whilst you have my sympathy I would like a little more information. Were you the only one given an infringement notice or were all of the other cars whose owners parked illegally also given infringement notices? If you were the only one then you should pursue this vigorously.

Sue Ridge - I was the only one who got a ticket. At least 6 cars were parked nose in, but no tickets.  I went back the next day to check and there were a number of cars parked nose in. I will appeal , so let's see how it goes.  Thank you for your interest.

Best of luck Hola.

Hola, were the six cars there when the parking inspector came by to issue your ticket? If so, then why ticket your car out of the seven? I cannot see how checking next day helps your case unless you can prove parking inspector overlooks the infringements. And if inspector does, then it still then begs the question, why you?

I've never seen a parking restriction like that for regular parking spaces.  Cannot stand the reverse 45º angle parking regulation in some country towns.

Hola investigate aussiespeedingfines, com     You will win, it usually takes one letter to the council which you will get from aussiespeeding fines and Bingo.

Roy = Thank you I have, I can only wait and see what happens.

Better forget any recompense if you do not have a picture!!!
