Notifying Centrelink of Bank Interest

Can anyone give me some help with this query as I cannot find any info anywhere?

If you have some money invested, and earn the grand amount of around $280 a month, and compound this, when do you have to advise Centrelink? Do you have to advise them once you have earnt $1,000, or $2,000? Or once a year? Have tried ringing Centrelink but constantly kept on hold. Web search finds nothing.

Many thanks -

I was told it was $2000.

You can also arrange to be able to do it on line --- I find if I have to ring them I ring them the minute they open

i've found centrelink difficult to contact and usually hand write them a letter, post it via snail-mail.  and keep a copy.

i think they are very short-staffed and under-funded.

Yes very true kika, they are very short staffed --but every time I have had to deal with them they have been so kind and nice

You do not mention if you are a pensioner. If you are you will get the info here.

Move your investment over to that Panama mob

Problem solved

You should find the info you need

The easiest way to keep your updates with Centrelink is on the Internet.
