Not too happy with the police these days.

My car was hit by another car last week and the driver took off without stopping.

Luckily I remembered his rego. number and drove around to the police station to report the incident.

The officer took my details and rang the offender. When he came to the station the officer asked him "why did he take off?" and he said, "I was in a hurry".

I thought he would have been charged with causing an accident and leaving the scene but the officer said he had a clean driving record.

I don't even know if this is the person that was driving, it could have been his brother.

The officer took our details and said he would send me an email with photos of each car, but I have received nothing to date.

I went around to the police station on Tuesday to get the officer's name and they had no record of him.

I said, "Surely you must have a duty roster of those that worked on the Friday", and she said "no". She asked me to describe him, "Did he have tattoos, height and if he had glasses".

What is going on?

I rang NRMA and they said they would handle everything for me. This is not good enough and I'm thinking of taking it to a higher level to complain. It certainly has been a week of bad luck for me.

What?? you in another fight, last week you tried to take on a pro truck driver, now another poor innocent driver - time to hand in the keys and stop bothering the police

You are so full of good advice Lucca. Now take my advice and pull your head in.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience Hola, but glad to hear that ...

I rang NRMA and they said they would handle everything for me.

Best wishes for your claim.

Thanks RnR. It was a very trying time.

You are having a bad time of late HOLA -- hope it all works out for you

Thanks PlanB, that's not the half of it but I won't bore you with other details. It will all come

good in the end........I hope.

In the 1980's I worked closely with Police, but in the last 40 years they have gone off the rails. They assault innocent people, are porno heads when they strip search innocent people, jump all over them when dragged out of vehicles, yell loudly instead of using a forceful and firm voice, and one thing that totally pisses me off is when they say after giving some instruction/ticket/warning/ etc "OKAY?". They have effectively taken away all authority when doing their job. You don't say okay under any circumstances, it brings into question your authority.

Australian cops have been watching too many Yank cop shows, and think that's the way to behave.

It was so much better when "The Bill" was on, and they could emulate the Bobbies. So much more civil and civilised.

'Morning 54-11.  I think we (ALL ages) have been watching too many 'Cop' shows and other types of 'shows'.  This form of entertainment is produced/shown for one purpose. to raise revenue for the media, be it TV, Radio, 'Social Media'. Most times quality, accuracy, good messaging etc is not there at all.  With a few exceptions of course and you do have to put some effort into finding the better, more accurate and truly informative entertainment but it is worth it.  Same applies for current news accurate reporting etc and it gets harder to achieve that too :(  Luckily as I have aged I found it gets easier to discriminate in choosing my sources and more relevant, to me, is it really important to me at all ;)

Don't watch Police Mysteries myself, husband loves to watch Vera though.

Celia - I find it very hard to watch Vera - she seems too old to still be in the Force. I don't know who picks her wardrobe but it is disgusting.

Vera is based on the Vera Stanhope series of novels written by crime writer Ann Cleeves. Ann Cleeves is an English crime-writer. She has had several of her works dramatised on TV including her Jimmy Perez novels as the TV series Shetland; and the Matthew Venn novel The Long Call as the TV series The Long Call.

I enjoy the subtle humour in Vera, alongside her longstanding eccentricities like her jeep and hat. However like Shetland, the series can be very dark and dour at times IMO.
