My Aged Care
We want to stay in our own home and are waiting on a package
would love to hear from people at present funded as it seems that there are a million traps to fall into
our daughters are our carers and do a great job but they have their own families and problems without worrying about us
i have a back problem and am on constant medication like most eighty year olds - the wife works very hard although She is not well either
we got a letter from the government saying that we should investigate how to proceed and we have been doing that but it's difficult because most providers say they are best
would love to hear your experiences - at the moment we enjoy Meals on Wheels and a cleaner from our council - both fabulous services but we have been told that where will cease when our package is funded
from our investigation it seems that Trilogy would be a good provider as we want to self manage and Mable seems best for providing workers
our belief is that the total fee for Trilogy is 12% of the package and that Mable charges us only 5% of the figure we agree to pay our workers
to replace Meals on Wheels will be hard but Lite n Easy seem ok

I've been self managing my Home Care Package using Local Guardians (Capital Guardians) as the Service Provider. I also found staff via Mable and I am really pleased with the service from both these organisations. Local Guardians gives lots of help with setting up your self managed plan. I live in a very remote small town in the NT where services of all kinds are pretty limited. I'd give a lot to be able to access a decent meals preparation and delivery service, but that just isn't available here. Originally I had services via the local nursing home which is managed by ARCCS but I was very unhappy with the service. I don't know what this organisation would be like anywhere else though. I guess it all depends on the local management. They charged an awful lot of management fees and I got very few services from them. They didn't offer the option of self management at all. I spent quite a bit of time looking at what other service providers offered services in my area and found that Local Guardians offered the best deal here. I am very happy with them and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good service provider.
