Much cheaper!

Daughter gave me a $50 Myer Gift Voucher which runs out in a few weeks so we went by train down to Dandenong which is our closest Myer store and decided to buy a crepe maker for $60
and had a good day at the Dandenong Market but glad to get home to a quieter and less noisy with traffic place, where we live and really like.
Anyway Aldi today has the crepe maker for $30 :( :( couldn't believe it
No wonder we save $100 a month shopping at Aldi.
I cannot believe our luck having an Aldi just around the corner from where we live.
Makes for a good life.
Hurry back Hughie you are really missed but of course hope you are enjoying your holiday.

I think you must have shares in Aldi Phyl :)

We must have too PlanB, we shop there also. Makes you so mad when you see things you have just bought and they are 1/2 the price at Aldi. If that was me, I would take it back to Myers and get the money back but go to Aldi first and get one there. Not worth it though if you have to travel unnecessarily, but if you are going there again in the near future. Hang onto it all sealed in the box and the receipt and off I would go. I have done this before, many times.

I think there are more and more people shopping at Aldi each week, especially at Wonthaggi as it gets busier all the time. We went to NQR yesterday and bought some lovely apples for $2.50 bag. I am going to peel and cook them and freeze them, handy to have there if one gets visitors, LOL LOL (what does that mean) LOL LOL. Takes a few moments to make an apple strudel up, even some apple and cinnamon muffins.

That is a thought to take the crepe maker back and get $30 to spend on something plus the

machine from Aldi mmm that is a thought as I have everything to do that.

Do you think I am bad? I bought two bags of those big green apples and I tied a bit of a bag

through the handles as you have to be able to tie the bag lol - but er I did didn't I :)

Cee. I cook a couple of the green apples and a cup of blueberries gently and we have them with the low fat cream just 12% fat from NQR (we have 40 jars of that in the freezer as we were lucky enough to get a few more last week) and I got the last 12 cans of pie apricot such a great buy at just $2.29 a can whereas as we use it all the time along with apple we pay well over $2 normally. Do you buy the small packets of noodles? heaps of packets for just $2 and very nice. Our new Aldi is in walking distance and we appreciate it every day :) Cee I would love your Strudel Recipe.

All the best

Hello Phyl, STRUDEL RECIPE

1 x 800g can pie apple (no added sugar).....I prefer to cook my own though and use splenda or similar for sweetener)

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/4 cup sultanas

8 sheets filo pastry......I use puff pastry

1 tsp sugar

Cooking Spray

Oven 200 deg. C

Combine Apple sultanas and cinnamon in a medium mixing bowl.

Fold out filo sheets, one sheet on top of the other spraying with cooking spray between sheets.

Place Apple filling along centre of pastry. Spray edges with cooking spray then fold right and left edges inwards. spray again. and roll pastry and filling carefully.

Place on baking tray with fold underneath, I like to line tray with baking paper, otherwise use cooking spray. Sprinkle a little sugar and cinnamon on strudel. Pierce the top to let the steam escape. Bake 30 - 40 mins. until golden brown. Any fruit liked can be substituted.

Enjoy with your 12% cream Phyl.

Thank you so much for putting the recipe down for me ceemgee. I will definitely make that and tomorrow at that. I used up all the 25% less fat pastry sheets I had. I will not buy those again as they contain Palm Oil which is just so very annoying. I should have read the ingredients other than the front cover which had 25% less fat in the big letters.

I used to use filo but have also gone to the puff as I would just as rather use rolled out thin

sandwich loaf bread, as the filo is awful.

Hope things are going well for you and thanks again :)

Just had a thought and wonder has anyone tried to make pastry using Good Quality Virgin Olive Oil?

or as we have bought many bottles of Walnut Oil supposedly very good to help lower cholesterol

levels as the Olive Oil is also. Maybe it would make the pastry a bit too crisp?

Someone may have tried it?

All the best

Phyl.

Have had a look in my books for pastry made with Virgin Olive Oil Phyl but can't find anything. We also use Virgin Olive Oil. Diabetes Foundation say to use Flora Light for Pastry. Don't know if this is any help to you though. CMG

That was very nice of you CMG so bought the Flora Light this morn. Apple Strudel

recipe by CMG now making the house smell lovely while still in the oven.

Come on over for lunch........

Phyl.
