Moving in to town

I've decided that I will move in to town - only 4k from the town centre, far better than the 40k I now have to drive. There'll be a public transport bus every hour, only 1k away. My son will help me move. I've checked out the place where I'll be moving to - no flooding, even though the road might be cut for an hour or so. I've checked the area out at night, on weekends, and it seems to be fairly quiet. I'll still have to have the satellite broadband - the Coffs Harbour exchange is quite antiquated. I'm in the throws of packing now. I've measured up the place I'll be going to - my furniture will fit. It's quite a time for me. New neighbours, new friends, but I'll make it OK. Must admit, I'm a bit nervous.

Good on you.

It takes courage to move at a later stage in life.

Let us know how it goes.

good luck with your move, hope you will be happy in your new home

cheers

New beginnings for you and your dog Bev. You will be closer to things you need.

Enjoy it all as change is a holiday :)

Well done - it's always daunting making a change, particularly moving house. I hope it all goes well for you. If you get involved in things, you will soon make friends. Let us know how you go.

Why have I kept so much junk? I'm donating a whole heap of stuff that I really don't need. I don't need to have two electric jugs, just in case one breaks down. I could boil water anywhere. I've taken my dog to the new house, she's had a really good sniffy walk. The yard isn't as big as she was used to, but there is a leash free dog park only a couple of k away. We'll be fine. She'll be happy as long as she has me, her soccer ball, and a supply of chicken wings.

Bev we all keep things we do not really need--this is a good chance for you to get rid of stuff.

I've moved house four times, and always ended up with loads of stuff to give away.

But somehow it just keeps growing in my back room! LOL

I've moved twice and I would hate to have to again

Hope things are going well with your move Bev.

All the best

Phyl.

I'm moving on Saturday. Because it is an approved mutual exchange between Dept of Housing tenants, we don't have the luxury of moving into an empty house. We have had to co-ordinate the removal. You move out at 9.15 am, so will I. The trucks, or whatever, will pass each other on the road. If you leave your aircon in the bedroom, I'll leave mine in the lounge room. We've had to pay each other $1 to "buy" the curtains, blinds, equipment that is left behind. That way, the Dept of Housing NSW is not responsible for it. It's good that I'm moving in to town. Don't know how much longer I'll be able to drive. It's not a really good experience, but I will survive it.

I have moved twice in my life --privately-- and both times I have done it that way--I moved out and the others moved in--same as the house I was buying--they also moved out the same day worked well--no storage--no bother.

I'm getting nervous. The closer it comes, the more I wonder if I am doing the right thing. I know I can't really drive forever and that I need to be closer to town. It's just so hard to leave. I know I'm doing the right thing, Will I fit in? Will I make friends? Will my neighbours be as good? It's so hard.
