Movie Camera Help
Hi
Is there any way to wipe a move off a digital tape cassette. I have made lots of little movies of the grandkids and now I want to get them off the tapes as I have put them onto CD.. Putting them onto a DVD would have been a better option but that is another mystery to me . My computer is supposed to write DVD's but I can't get it to. Any help would be appreviate. Many thanks
HI thanks for suggestions re putting movies onto DVD. My computer has a CD/DVD burner - or so I thought, but when I download the movie to my computer and save it as a finished movie, I ask Nero to burn the DVD, but it tells me I have not put a DVD into the burner - but I had - so I put in a CD and it would burn to that !! so its still a mystery to me. BUT I will keep trying different things
Cheers

Hi Morgan
A suggestion - put a blank CD in your drive and bring up Nero Info Tool it will tell you what your drive can do.
Good luck
Hi Justme,
thanks for suggestions, I have been extra busy lately and only just found time to have a look at this site. I think I have overcome the problem of burning to DVD. CD's did not present a problem. But I wanted DVD's. Anyway they are going to have to wait for a while. At the moment, it seems everyone in the family needs help or is having a "do" . I have just been taking some stills with my digital camera that I am still learning how to use.
Enjoy life...

I do a lot of video editing and dvd making so if I can help just let me know.
NB: I only profess to know what I do that works; sometimes it's good to compare notes
Good luck
Hi Justme
One question I can think of is - when I have downloaded and edited the little clips and made a storyline (the only program I have for movie editing is the one that came with my computer) I save the work and then I seem to loose all the little clips ?? and then can't do another edit on this particular movie.
I have a panasonic digital NV-DS50 video camera, the stills digital I have is also panasonic its a MCD-FZ5. I have always liked taking photos and have my fathers Ensign camera - one that folds down like a concertina that he got when he was 16 - I have used it quite a few times but cerainly not recently and not sure that film would be available. I also have an old Kodak Retinette A1 35mm camera.
Digital has certainly made things easier and that is why I have started doing the little movies.
Do you know of a way to edit a movie that this has had this happen ??
many thanks

IF YOUR USING WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER IT HAS SO MANY LIMITATIONS COMPARED TO OTHER V/E PROGRAMS I WONT USE IT. THAT'S ONE I CAN'T HELP YOU WITH.
I USE ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO - V10. I HAVE USED VERSIONS 7 - 10 AND CAN'T FIND A BETTER ONE FOR HOME USE. TRIED MANY ALWAYS COME BACK TO UVS. THE PROBLEM YOUR HAVING DOESN'T EXIST IN UVS

Hi Justme
thanks for info in different program to try for video editing. Will look into that soon. I have not tried any programs other than what came with the computer. A friend gave me a copy of Photoshop - an old version but very interesting for editing photos - wish I knew more about that one too. I do quite a bit of "trial and error" when I have some spare time.
I am in Western Australia - in a suburb just east of the city.
Am still working 4 days a week so not a huge amount of time for making little movies
thanks

providing you have'nt removed the tab on the cassette you can record over the original. If your serious about putting them on a DVD you can go to a professional, although this can be costly.I had mine done about 6 years ago and they are fantastic. The other alternative is to use a software program I now have Magix and its step by step instructions make it easy,There are quite a few good software programs around, you can even download them for a trial period. The only downside to some of these is you dont get the full program. You need to install your films onto your pc and save them, make a folder and name it (something like family films).you use your software program to create a DVD.
I hope this helps you
