The Meeting Place --no further ?

[1] type in your life choices

[2] about seniors no1 [click]

[3]click meeting place..

good luck, seth.

Good Afternoon,

It looks like our link has slightly changed which has made your bookmark not work, i will try and update this right now so others don't have a similar problem!

Cheers,

Webmaster Drew

Thank you Drew--I didn't mean to complain--just thought I had better let you know

PB, do we know why we are now Life Choices instead of About Seniors?

The link to The Meeting Place at the top of the page and the link after Hello "Members name" is http://www.yourlifechoices.com.au/index.php/meeting_place/ which is what I presume Drew is going to change to the correct url of

http://www.yourlifechoices.com.au/index.php/the_meeting_place/viewcategory/1/

I imagine Drew has been busy changing over and will get to it when he has time.

Then maybe we should stop posting so there is less for Drew to do. Maybe?

.

Or we could say "thank you Drew for your hard work"

We are very lucky to have a site free to us where you do

all the hard work.

The new name is great - the site will be faster

thank you!

Phyl.

I was hoping we would have a more modern board with the change of server.

No change I can see - what did I miss? Not any faster either.

BTW No need to grovel - the advertisers wouldn't pay to be on the site if we all didn't visit. It is called commerce.

So they need many members to get ads.

That is why it is free.

All forums are and all look to be paid for the links or adverts.

Good heavens Big Val I recon if they payed you to come to this site

you would complain you weren't being paid enough

Give Drew and Co. a fair go, the site is still young yet.

I find it is faster to load.

I cannot fathom why anyone would think saying

Thank you Drew would be classed as grovelling??

Anyway I am also saying Thank you Drew, Kaye, Debbie and David.

A lot of behind the scenes work has to be done to keep the place running

so surely a thank you should not be hard to do? I can imagine

how much family time has to be given up to keep this site going.

Or we could say "thank you Drew for your hard work"

We are very lucky to have a site free to us where you do all the hard work.

Phyl.

I agree with you Phyl.

Thank you all who make this site work.

I guess it may be a bit depressing when you have knockers who say "No need to grovel".

There will always be whingers who complain about what they get for free.

But what do they offer - mostly nothing but reams of copy / paste.

I would suggest that if they wish to keep whinging that they go elsewhere and stop complaining.

I appreciate coming here and I know the amount of work that it takes to keep databases and sites up to date, so once again, Thank you.

fwed

Thanks you so much Drew for your explanation and your hard work--very much appreciated

Hi All,

Thanks for all the comments,

The website was "not working" this morning because of our host changing our accounts server to the premium non-clogged up server. While this is a good thing, they did not duplicate the data and hard work we had put in over the last 7 days. Anyway it is now back up and working. Think of trying to deal with your phone company... but 100X worse... that is web hosts for you!

I try and do a good job with the website but sometimes it is a little beyond me and takes a while to implement changes. I am currently struggling with the forum in making the changes needed for the links as it was set up by a website team for us so I had nothing to do with it. Like anything in life, you need to adapt to the situation and find a way to get through it, and I will :)

A little explanation on why we made the name change. We have done a lot of research over the last year on the word Seniors and everywhere we go, it comes back very negatively with anyone under the age of 60. Not many people of the 50-60 age group want to visit a website called aboutseniors, as they do not think they are a senior. Even those who are working full time and are over 60, a large portion refuse to be classified under this name. We are trying to expand the community to include pre-retirees (55+) as it makes commercial sense to include them in our area (as all of our subjects are targeting those 50+).

We believe this will only have positive effects on the website in increasing community interaction on the forums, visitors to the website and increase in subscriber numbers. As you can imagine with the GFC, it has been a hard few years for online and offline media and our model of not selling any products on the website has been hard to sustain (note the introduction of travel insurance product which we chased after the meeting place group posted their no.1 providers and ended up agreeing on mondial).

To answer the question on a new design to the website, in my eyes, the next, number one thing i would like done to the website, is a complete redesign and new forum module. When this will be, i am unsure, the next 6 months? It is likely it will be decided in that time.

I hope you all have a great day!

Webmaster Drew

I wonder how people like Big Val cope in life

when a genuine thank you is something

he/she defines as grovelling.

May I please add my thank you Drew.
