Meet your Meeting Place contributors

We like to leave the forum open to members, but the YourLifeChoices team does pop in regularly to have their say, and of course, see what’s important to you.

The Meeting Place is our chance to share content that’s a little more ‘personal’ and off-beat – and will give you a sense of who the people are that bring you your daily enewsletter.

We’d love to hear more about you and what makes you tick, so why not share a bit about yourself in the comments section below? To get the ball rolling, we thought we’d introduce ourselves to you, so you can get a handle on who we are and what makes us tick.

Meet Webmaster Drew Patchell

Starting out at YourLifeChoices for a week of work experience in 2005 while studying his Bachelor of Business at Swinburne University, Drew has been with the company ever since, working on the website’s digital needs. Drew has a passion for all things technology (especially video games) which is only rivalled for his love of all things sport (watching, not playing).

Meet Digital Assistant Ryan Boutland

Ryan is actually a North American spruce grouse (Falcipennis canadensis) who has somehow found its way into our office building in Victoria, Australia. We’re not quite sure how he got here but if we sprinkle small insects over a computer keyboard with a blank word document open and let him peck at them (striking the keys in an attempt to get at the juicy bugs) he will usually produce a tech how-to article. We’re not quite sure how or why this happens but as we say in the office ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’. Occasionally his output turns polemical and he produces violent slur filled essays on the unsuitableness of keeping cats as pets. However, we forgive these transgressions as he is, after all, a bird.

Meet Digital Editor Leon Della Bosca

Leon is a self-proclaimed word-spinner who constructs sentences for a living. He enjoys breathing, reading fine literature (subjective), watching baseball, writing poetry and surreal tales, drinking craft beer and and eating donuts. Someday he’d like to win a Nobel Prize for Literature, but would also settle for a Pulitzer. Oh, and did we mention he’s a bit of a dreamer?

Meet Digital Editor Amelia Theodorakis

Amelia is your friendly neighbourhood writer, cat lady and breakfast enthusiast. She is partial to a piña colada and generally tends to plan ahead, checking the weather app on her smartphone and taking a coat out with her if it looks as if it will rain.

Meet the Editor Debbie McTaggart

Debbie is a mouthy Scot who is only too happy to share her opinions, of which she has many. Even after living in Australia for 10 years and fully embracing the Melbourne lifestyle, she still confuses us with her home town sayings. She loves nothing more than relaxing with a large G’n’T – more G less T!

Meet the Assistant Editor Lesh Karan

Lesh has worn many hats in her colourful and varied career – pharmacist, medical communications manager, food coach and aerobics instructor – but it’s the hat of a writer and editor that suits her best. She’s most at home curating information for her reader’s best interest, and if you’re a writer, she loves to ‘kill your darlings’ all for the benefit of her said reader. When she’s not killing or curating, you’ll find her in a yoga class, at a farmers’ market or cuddling her two fur babies.

Okay, so that’s us out of the way, how about telling us a bit about yourselves?
