Man hangs up on winning Oz Lotto call

A Manly man initially hung up on a NSW Lotteries official when they were trying to tell him that he was one of the three Oz Lotto division one winners, winning nearly $17 million.

The man was initially so stunned by the life-changing call that he slammed the phone down.

However, the registered player eventually stayed on the line long enough to have his win confirmed, prompting him to erupt into celebration.

“Are you serious!?!  You are kidding me!  I can’t believe it,” he said, bursting out laughing.

“Oh man! You have made my whole life!  How amazing is this?”

The man explained he marked his winning System 9 entry using family birthdates. He also admitted he had a feeling he might win.

“When you rang before I thought it was a bit strange.  But then I went and grabbed my ticket, then I checked my ticket and saw the numbers!”

While it was too early to tell if an early retirement was on the cards, the delighted man plans to “invest the money and have a happy life”.

“I can’t believe it! I’m in shock,” he laughed.

“It’s sort of sunk in, but it hasn’t.  I don’t know what to think. I don’t know what to say. I’m lost for words!

“This is amazing.  You can honestly say 100 per cent you don’t get much better news than this.  Without a doubt!”

How would you react if you won Tattslotto?

I would have to check to see if it wasn't a hoax at first, then ring my sons to say we must have a family meeting. I am pretty good at keeping secrets. When we were all got together I would give them the good news and then tell them of my plans. Good luck should be shared and I'm sure I could make many deserving people very happy. It's nice to dream.

I've already won lotto! Hard work and reaping the fruits. But if I did get a windfall, I'd buy a nice secluded island and surf all day.

I don't care about winning a lot of money and I never buy lotto or lottery tickets. I used to dream of such things when poor in the past but once one has enough, it is enough and doesn't have to be more than an amount to live reasonably comfortably without having to worry about how to pay your bills and feed your family. I wish all money prizes would go to poor people who do live with such issues. The most important thing to me always has been that life will deliver me and my loved ones an absense of tragedy and unbearable trauma that I won't easily cope with. That is the most important thing to care about in my opinion.

I  had my last lottery ticket when I was working as all the office used to put in money weekly -- never had one since, that the only gsmbling I every did I never ever even went in a sweep for the Cup in my life

That is similar to how I had reacted when I got a phone call from an Audi car sales manager informing me that I had won a car!

I had thought that it was a scam or hoax until I went to pick up the car 3 yrs ago in the Royal Mebourne Hospital lottery which my sister first told me about a few yrs prior to that.

She has lupus which caused her to receive a kidney transplant only 6wks before my win. She was also one of the 12 involved in Australia's first coordinated kidney transplants in which her husband was one of the anonymous donours.

Karma in action......one good turn deserves another!
