Major hospital stops elective surgery over surging COVID admissions
The Alfred Hospital Melbourne has deferred all electrive surgeries due to the rising rate of hospitalisations due to COVID-19.
Urgent surgery is expected to continue while the hospital limits outpatient appointments during the third Omicron wave.
In addition to these precautions, the hospial has reinstated the requirement for all staff and visitors to wear N95 masks from today.
