Madame Tussauds stops work on Turnbull figure

Madame Tussauds Sydney has announced that their creative team have stopped work on their latest wax creation - the figure of former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Madame Tussauds Sydney general manager Mark Connolly said Turnbull was set to be the next addition to the World Leader’s room, but the change of leader forced the team “to postpone work and save the wax”.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve made the decision to stop creating a political leader due to their premature exit from office,” Mr Connolly said.

“In 2013, just weeks after work began creating Kevin Rudd’s figure, the team were advised to stop work. Again in 2015, when Tony Abbott was voted out by his fellow MPs, we made the decision to stop work.

“We want to ensure our World Leaders room remains current and relevant to our local and international guests – and not a room full of retired Prime Ministers, which has prompted our decision to stop work on leaders once they’re out of power, we hope there are no hard feelings.”

Current figures of prominence in the World Leaders room include ex-Prime Ministers Julia Gillard, John Howard, Bob Hawke as well as Queen Elizabeth II, Albert Einstein, Nelson Mandela and Ghandi.

Turnbull is expected to retire as the member for Wentworth by the end of the week, after writing a letter to his electorate explaining his decision.

Would a wax figure of Malcolm Turnbull have achieved any less than the real Malcolm Turnbull managed during his time in office?

He will simply melt away and spend the millions that he have stashed around the world. Australians you have been conned again.

I can well believe that Jim.

We havent had a real tax loop hole shake up since Howard back in the 70's and Bottom of the Harbour schemes.

Time we cut out overseas accounts and trusts as I think these are leaking taxes owed to the people of Australia.

You know the ones who worked paid their taxes and contributed without trying to change the way we live like far too many late arrivals.

Beats me how it goes on and nothing gets done.

Well not really because I suspect nothing will change whilst MP's etc all use these.

Maybe we should demand that they declare if they have one on their list of income and interests.

The one Labor/Greens and some Libs,  dashed to see if Peter Dutton had declared his interest in Child Care when he got elected. He did.

No con involved Jim. Mr Turnbull's wealth was well known and documented. It is one  thing he does not have to apologise for.

You are right KSS. How can anyone think otherwise. A quote from my pal:

Senator Derryn Hinch said: “I think the Labor Party’s attack is pretty low. We all know Turnbull is a self-made millionaire, and the fact that he gives his salary to charity is very commendable. Wish I could afford to.” What does Shorten give to charity????

Well Boo Hoo! What a mongrel Turnbull turned out to be. He has tried to airbrush over his unseating of Nelson and Abbott and wants us to feel sorry for him because his party dethroned an elected PM. Then he changed the rules (without authorisation or support) on the way a party room meeting can be called. He made public the names of those who wanted him gone when all political parties have secret ballots. Now he is taking his bat and ball and leaving the party of his second choice with a by-election that they don't need or want. Selfishness, thy name is Turnbull.

His attitude to others has been passed through the family with his son, who no longer chooses to live in Australia, making comments on Australia's political climate and a grandson who chose to boo the media when Turnbull addressed the media about his resignation. Australia and the Liberal party are well rid of him. The only person who will miss him is Shorten who may have a bigger fight to attain the role of PM.

No Old Man he didn't change the rules: he simply followed them to the letter!

I do agree about his childish dummy spit (pot - kettle- black comes to mind) and his tantrum that if he can't be choef he won't play at all. If he really had any respect for the Party or Australia he would have stepped down from the Leadership and remained on the back bench for another few months - like Julie Bishop is doing.

Here you go again Old Man, out of touch with reality, Turnbull did the only decent thing and is leaving parliament, why should he stay in a party divided who will never agree, regardless of who is PM, any way I agree with what he said, NO FORMER PM SHOULD STAY IN PARLIAMENT, history tells us this never works and that is why Abbott should go too, he is a sore in the Liberals side and until he is gotten rid of will go on causing pain and disharmony.

Barnaby Joyce says Malcolm Turnbull is wrong to quit parliament, saying he had a “contractual arrangement” with voters in his seat of Wentworth.

And, just days after being dumped as prime minister, Mr Turnbull has written to his constituents confirming he’ll leave on Friday, sparking a likely by-election on October 6.

“He should not be doing it,” Mr Joyce said.

“He has got so much support.”

In his letter overnight, Mr Turnbull took a none-too-subtle swipe at TonyAbbott, and hit out at his downfall.

“As you know, I have always said that the best place for former prime ministers is out of the parliament, and recent events demonstrate why,” Mr Turnbull wrote.

But he said he didn’t want to dwell on the “shocking and shameful events of last week – a pointless week of madness that disgraced our parliament and appalled our nation”.

A long list of potential candidates is emerging, including Christine Forster, the sister of Mr Abbott.

Asked what it’d be like having two Abbotts in parliament, Mr Joyce said: “So two Abbotts make a Bishop? I don’t know.”

The former deputy prime minister has railed against dumping prime ministers.

“I just don’t like that process,” he said.

And, after accepting a role as envoy for the drought, Mr Joyce stated the obvious, saying the Coalition could be wiped out if an election was held this weekend.

With Malcolm Turnbull out of parliament for two sitting weeks before the by-election, Labor leader Bill Shorten said Australia was “in the zone ofminoritygovernment”.

The Morrison Government would still be safe in the Lower House, with the support of crossbenchers in any motion of confidence or supply.

Mr Shorten said Malcolm Turnbull and Julie Bishop had been treated ”poorly” by their party.

“The government hasn’t answered one question. Why? Last week it was Malcolm Turnbull in parliament, next week it’s Scott Morrison. There hasn’t been an explanation of why.

“Why did we go through all of this? Why is Australia called the coup capital of the world of western democracies?”

"But he said he didn’t want to dwell on the “shocking and shameful events of last week – a pointless week of madness that disgraced our parliament and appalled our nation”.

Much like the events Mr Turnbull visited on both Mr Nelson and Mr Abbott then!

He should talk after all the trouble he caused, Barnaby has a short memeory, hope he goes next election too, why would Malcolm want to stay in a party where half of them hate his guts?, he is doing the right thing leaving now just as Tony Abbott and Kevin Rudd should have long ago.

What you call bitten on the bum.

Morrison as PM?! NOT MY Prime Minister!A ‘happy clapper’ with a heart of stone.......another version of Turnbull, but with a far less sophistication in appearance, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, attempting to appeal to the average voter. Are we all so easily fooled, or will we again make the same, dumb decision to vote the LNP in again?! POLICIES........NOT, PERSONALITIES IS THE KEY!

Blondie, I would not have defamed wolves like that, I susgest a better analogy for Mr Morrison would be a Brutus, with Ms Bishop playing the Mark Antony part. I think Mr Morrison may not have been the actual instigator of the political assanination of Mr Turnbull but I suspect he encouraged the plotting and did not hesitate to take advantage of the situation.

Do not fprget all the recent adverse government actions against the less well off sections of the community, including the retired, some by Mr Hockey and some on Mr Morrisons watch as Treasurer. Also Mr Morrisons advocacy of the massive tax cuts for the wealthy. He used the spuious reason for these tax cuts as keeping Australia internationally competative. What makes Australia attractive to international investors is our political stability (irrespective of which major party is in power), something which these plotters were willing to compromise for their own political gain.

A pox on them all.

All well and good but both Labor and Liberals have not once mentioned us poor old pensioners apart from giving us a measly $2.50 a week.  But, of course, they don't care anyway what with their $400,00 plus a year and all their perks, why should they worry about anyone else but themselves.  We desperately need hospitals and doctors but apparently sport stadiums are much more important.  It's no wonder the workers and pensioners are fed-up with politicians because the only time we ever see them is when there's an ellection on the horizon and they want our votes.  No wonder they don't want a Republic and make voting compulsory!!!

The media have a lot to answer for these days the way they report things, Ray Hadley, Alan Jones, Peter Credlin Paul Murray especially, I heard  a Liberal POLITICIAN ACTUALLY SAY TODAY HE WATCHED 3 HOURS OF SKY NEWS the other night, the best 3 hours of fiction he had ever seen he said and for a Liberal to say that about these Conservative commentators says a lot.

Good - although Turnbull warrants indignities much greater than this one - just another complete narcissist.
